I've damaged the display glass of my Ionic.
Before I get to the main topic let me just state that the Ionic is not officially available in my country so I bought it from another country while travelling for business. In other words, warranty is not an option for me.
Also, I won't be travelling again anytime soon so it's not really an option to buy a new Ionic and I can't really afford to do that anyway.
Okay so I managed to accidentally scratch the display of my Ionic. It wasn't too bad but it was very noticeable and really bothered me. It was a sort of cluster of scratches like I'd swiped it against a wall or something.
Rather disappointing because I really like my Ionic and I've been trying to look after it. Aside from the scratches, it is still in near perfect condition.
I tried the toothpaste polishing idea which seemed to help to smooth over the scratches a bit but left the display with lots of micro scratches. Though in hindsight it was actually a bad idea because I had forgotten about the oleophobic coating which has also been damaged now, resulting in frequent smudges and fingerprints on the glass.
So a few Questions:
1. Is there a supplier that sells replacement glass for the Ionic?
2. How difficult is it to replace the glass? Can it be done at home and what tools would I need?
3. Alternatively, what can I do to polish the display to properly remove the micro scratches and either remove or significantly improve the deeper scratches that started this whole situation.
4. Is there a way that I can repair the oleophobic coating?

I'm also interested. Some of the kettlebells exercises make a kettlebell touch my wrist, for example, bicep curls or squat-and-curls. I've been thinking to wear a soft wristband to protect Ionic but I think I just delay inevitable. Just simple heavy duty screen protector could be a great support.

Also interested in a repair solution to the scratches in my screen.

I bought a cheap screen protector from amazon, somewhere around $12 and came with 8 protectors. It was a little tricky to get one on smoothly without bubbles (I used up 3 of them trying) but I eventually did and it's not even visible.

There's no replacement option on the screen, and any repair attempt would destroy the water resistance.
What I would recommend is going to a watch repair shop, and have them buff out the scratches. They have access to methods the average person isn't going to have.
