My 3yr old charge hr has packed up after i went swimming with it on. Oops. I fancy replacing it with the ionic but am wondering about its reliability after reading these posts.  Looks like it wont last 3 years. I know it says you can wear it whilst swimming but the forums tell me otherwise.  Although i dont do a lot of swimming. I'll take the ionic plunge but will i regret it?

Good morning @Chris2pher! I did the same thing with my old Charge HR but the Ionic can definitely go for a swim (as long as you aren't scuba diving!).l

I hope you enjoy your new Ionic--I know mine has been great to me! Let me know if you have any other questions!

Mine died after 1,5 years but not from the water damage (it survived a few swims). You may look at the recent downgrade of swimming tracking (no real-time lap data on the watch), no HR tracking in the water and, if you consider auto-detection of swimming, the water interacts with the screen (no screen-lock feature unless you start Swim exercise manually) so funny things may be happening while you are in the water. Just beware of the limitations. Fitbit products are not designed for swimmers.

I can tell you that for the price I sure regret it. Updates don't work, you can't get rid of sync error warnings to the extent that its hard to use the app on your phone, error banners pop up non-stop and makes your screen shift up and down, and you can't fix it because the fixes won't install. I've had mine for a little over a year, I'm just researching new watches/trackers now.

It's the worst. I've had problems and replacements shortly after I bought it and today, 2 days after the warranty expired (conveniently), my screen randomly died. I didn't drop it. I didn't swim. I didn't hit it anywhere. Just boom, dead. And customer support is so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ about it - which is very disappointing. Don't buy it. I regret my investment in this watch.
