IONIC - Too Many Issues for this Price Point

I have had so many issues with my ionic since I bought it that in the next month or so I am buying a Garmin. I have an LG G6 (Android) phone with the latest Android software and the most current FitBit software. Today my time has been wrong on my ionic several times. It doesn't sync properly, I have to manually go in and sync it and even then I may have to restart my bluetooth to get it to sync. It randomly reboots, it froze in the middle of a workout multiple times. I hardly ever get my text messages on it. Oh and I have to use the crappy default messaging app on my phone (Verizon) since the Fitbit wouldn't work with the App + messaging on Verizon phones. (This may be fixed but I am tired of trying to resolve issues with my Ionic)

 

Let's talk about the GPS feature as well. I am training for my first half marathon and I only wore my ionic the first few training runs. I didn't think I was running as far or as fast as my ionic said I was. I wore my older Garmin and realized my Ionic was off by 0.5 to 1.5 miles depending on the length of the run. If I had only gone by my Ionic I would have been completely undertrained. I have used my older Garmin and driven my routes with two different vehicles to verify how much it is off. My Garmin is always within about 0.3 - 0.1 of my actually distance. My Ionic on the other hand is so far off it's not even funny. I paid over $200 for this watch and it can't even do what it is supposed to. I have been doing all of the troubleshooting steps multiple times since I started training in March and I am done fighting with this thing.

Hello @SK0103 and Welcome!  Thanks for sharing your Ionic experience.  As an "Original" Ionic owner and moist recently Ionic Adidas Edition owner, I have seen the Fitbit OS software grow exponentially.  Granted there is still room for improvement, but isn't that the case with ALL software.  I don't know where you purchased your Ionic or when you purchased it, but have you looked into Warranty Service and possibly having it replaced (if in fact the Ionic is defective)?  I love the Ionic and would hate to see you leave the platform, however, that of course is always your choice.  Good Luck, and please post back if you need any further assistance.  Thanks and Keep on STEPPING!

I Have Also a LG G6 and have a lot of issues with synchronization or with the coach that doesn't want to update. Today I 🏊 36 minutes but it is not taken into account in my daily activities while it appear in my list of sport of the day. It doesn't make sense. I'm really disappointed with the quality of the iconic. I had to return the first one I bought after 5 days because it wasn't waterproof anymore and died after a swim. There is a lot of great features but quality of the software needs to be improved (yes I have the latest firmware). The blaze was much more reliable.
