I have been using the Iconic for about a week now with some questionable results to be honest.
First off what exactly is the HR monitor measuring? Certainly not heartbeats. My regular exercise session is a 6k hike up a steep trail. I am pushing hard all the way up and in the very steep sections my heart and lungs are pushing the limits. Iconic never registers over 160 bpm. On the way down, running at a comfortable pace, much easier than going up and breathing is easy the Iconic measures 185+ and today actually went over 190. I am 60 years old so do the math and that number probably is not even achievable.
Second: the numbers are way off compared to the Strava App I also use. Not sure what to think about this but one of them is way out. Even elevation is hugely different. Both Iconic and app were started and stopped within a couple seconds of each other. Anyone else seeing irregularities?

@MonteC I hope you're doing well! Are you still experiencing this?
There are some factors that may affect your hear rate readings. To mention a few; physiology, location of wear, and type of movement affects the readings. Taking into consideration the type of exercise you are doing; the position of the watch on your wrist may be affecting the readings.
I'd recommend experimenting a different wrist placement. First, try wearing it far up your wrist (about 2 to 3 fingers from your wrist bone). Also, make sure that the watch is not too tight on your wrist as this may affect its accuracy. That placement is recommended for high intensity exercises as the ones you are doing. Please check this great article regarding heart rate for more details on how it works.
Also, make sure all of your personal data is correct on your Fitbit profile.
Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes!
