Inaccurate steps

I bought the ionic beginning of the year. I’m a full time student and work part time so the $400.00 spent on this watch was a pretty hefty hit on my account. Nevertheless I wanted to get healthy and this watch seemed to possibly help me. When I updated the first go around the watch got stuck and would not finish the update. I chatted with customer support and the guy was able to fix it. Since then my watch doesn’t seem to work correctly. I’ve had to reset my watch a couple times and the steps still don’t seem to be counted right. I walk with my mom (who has the versa) and she gets her 10,000 steps but I can only get 5,000. This I see crazier since I am shorter and have shorter legs then she does. I don’t have much confidence in this device and further then that feel I wasted $400.00 I could have spent on books or supplies for school.

I have tried this already and still does not count correctly. I’ve restarted my ionic a couple times now.

Which type of reset have you done on the Ionic, the factory reset or the soft reset?  The soft reset requires you to hold down the left and bottom right buttons for a few seconds, while the factory reset requires you to set up your device as if it was completely new to you.

I have done the soft reset myself. When I talked with someone from Fitbit he tried a couple of things to get my watch to work. It took him a while but had me not touch it while he did his thing on his end. I am guessing he did a factory reset since I had to redo some things
