Install watch faces and apps

Hi,

How do I successfully install watch faces and apps on my Ionic? Do I have to use the wifi connection, a connection that doesn't work for like 101 out of 100 tries for me? Or can I use the slower but obviously much more robust Bluetooth connection to the phone, as with firmware upgrades? Watch faces and apps are probably much smaller downloads than the entire firmware, so the Bluetooth connection should work just fine I guess.

I tried yesterday after successful wifi connection - the only time it has worked for me so far. But I constantly got some error message telling me that the install failed and I had to try again. I tried several times but none of them succeeded. For some time, I even had no installed watch face at all, only a message on the Ionic screen telling me to install watch faces or something like that. That message automagically went away and the original watch face somehow (I tried to install it manually that that failed too) reinstalled

You don't need Wifi at all, but the Ionic must be connected to the App.  All of my error are when the 2 devices lost communication with each other, so I would back out and re-sync and it would work fine.

Good luck!

The Ionic and Android phone with Fitbit app are connected with both regular and classic Bluetooth, the latter to control music playback (Spotify) on the phone.

Without any wifi, I get this error message:Screenshot_20171206-132157.png

So yes, I am pretty sure that I need wifi to manage apps. And even with a working wifi connection, it won't work for me. I constantly get the same error message, telling me that the install failed. And the mobile app puts a notification on the screen telling me to try again. And again. And again.

Is there a computer you could try to use?  I got the same message last night, switched to my computer, and no problems whatsoever.

I only run Linux on my computer so for me, I would guess the answer is "no".

But why would I connect the watch to a computer? The Ionic is a smartwatch. It is supposed to work alongside a phone, and occasionally on its own during work-out etc.
