I don’t understand why there is no option for interval running on exercise shortcuts despite it being suggested by many Fitbit members. I even saw they brought out a vote on it in 2018 and it got almost 2,000 votes yet it was never implanted? It’s an awful nuisance as I am an interval runner and I can never accurately gauge my calories or speed as the low intensity intervals dilute the final result. Fitbit can you please introduce an interval running mode!

While I certainly understand the current Run mode will dilute your speed metrics, I seriously doubt it impacts your calories.
As for a possible workaround, have you considered hitting the Pause button when you stop, and then hitting the start button when you restart running? I've only used the Pause button a few times on my old Fitbit Surge back in 2016 and given my typical run ranges from one to two-and-a-half hours, hitting that button for a few moments here and there didn't seem worth the effort.
Give it a try and update us on how you make out.
