so I'm going to start this thread hoping that we see a new Ionic soon, and I know that my Ionic is still very good and supported I just wanted to come up with a wish list of what improvements I would like to see in a new ionic and hope that fitbit sees this fourm
1) I would like to see more speed.
2) I wear bose Bluetooth ear buds and when I run if I Don't have the watch on my right arm it cuts out so I would wish for better Bluetooth ..
3) sounds, I would like to hear on my runs that I have reach 0.5 miles in 9:00 min .. in my Bluetooth head sets .. I don't know if this is a limitation with the phone or app but it would be soooo useful,
other than that is a fantactic product and I love it..

This should be posted in the features forum. That's where the engineers look for new ideas. If it gets the vote it could be added

I have my wishlist but I'm not fooling myself thinking that Fitbit will provide any of these features 😉 Just a few from the top of my head:
- working with external sensors ( HR, foot and bike sensors - for me it's crucial )
- being able to configure any exercise ( stats, GPS on/off for ANY activity, power saving mode for longer lasting activities, enable/disable external sensors etc. )
- screen/button lock feature ( for all the activities or even for the whole watch so for example, shower water won't be interacting randomly with the screen )
- creating custom activities and syncing them into the watch ( custom names, cherry-picked stats and features that the user may want to see ).
- structured workouts
- training targets ( HR, pace, cadence - anything that may be a target should be there )
- navigation ( POI and following uploaded routes ) - that's optional but nice to have.

We currently are in the community help forum @SunsetRunner I'd wed can help with a hardware issue we will be glad to help. However when it comes to suggestions, this is beyond what your fellow Fitbit users will be able to help with.
As @WendyB mentioned Fitbit has a feature request board for such requests.
Please do a search since I know a lot of the above suggestions have already been made and waiting to be voted on.
Now if the suggestion does not exist, you are more than welcome to start a new thread. Please remember that only one request per post with a well thought out title is requested.

@Rich_Laue I consider this topic as a mere discussion about future device rather than sombody's asking for help. There is no "Ionic 2" forum yet 😉 I don't see reason why it should not be here. It isn't asking for features for Ionic ( my list even from hardware reason would not be ever feasible for Ionic ).

Why not have a feature that turns the watch off when not in use? Sometimes, I have to go to a secure area where my ionic is not permitted. So, I don't wear it for the day, yet it is still on. What a waste of the battery!

You can choose to "Shutdown" the Ionic in the watch's "Settings" app. That is as close as you can get.

Great idea for a thread, @gibbyhome thanks for starting this!. A few things I can think of: 1. longer battery life, e.g. 10 hours when using both GPS and music. Other companies are now in this ballpark. 2. a selection in settings to turn off bluetooth and wifi to save power. 3. A two year USA warranty similar to what is offered in the UK and elsewhere. This would smooth out a lot of the lifecycle issues we're seeing with the Ionic. 4. faster music loading, it's pretty slow now. 5. GPS on-screen maps. Not sure Fitbit has this technical expertise, but other companies are now offering this capability.
