Ionic Charging tips and recommendations

I've had my fitbit since Feb this year, every 5-6 days it needs a charge, I'm fine with that and I can honestly say all functions I use work perfectly (thankfully after reading this forum).  In the time I've had it, only once has it charged to 100% and the amount of hastle it takes to get it to 97% is ridiculous.  I'm on my 3rd different charger as the one supplied is laughable and when you can get it to stay attached has the same issues.  I hate this product and it is by far the worst design for an electrical charge socket i have ever had the misfortune of owning.  I have tried multiple usb sockets in many locations....It is the device NOT the electrical supply.  Charging time alone would make my average heart rate be MUCH higher if it was on my wrist and not vibrating to tell me ever usb socket in existence is under powered.  I'm sick of this product and the lack of caring this company seem to do..... If someone has found a work around or fix that would be amazing, but I won't hold my breath 😞 Never gonna recommend a fitbit to anyone with the stress this gives me every week

Welcome on board @Telico, it's nice to see you here! Sorry to hear about the inconveniences you've been having with your Fitbit Ionic. Thanks you for the thorough feedback for the Fitbit environment, customer service and devices. This has not gone unnoticed and be sure that I will pass this along.

We don't want to create frustration in our customers. Fitbit has been designed to provide motivation and help you to reach your daily goals to success. Please know that we provide feedback to our team based on community posts and we are always working on improving our devices and overall environment based on that feedback.

We recommend to charge your trackers via the USB port over a wall adapter. However, it is also possible to charge your Fitbit tracker with a UL certified wall adapter. What may actually cause damage to the tracker's battery (either on a computer or a wall adapter) is the charging time, which if excessive over time may damage the battery and therefore cause quick battery drain or prevent the tracker from charging at all.

Tips to best charge Fitbit trackers are:

  • Use only genuine Fitbit charging cables
  • Use only UL-certified wall chargers
  • Avoid USB battery packs
  • Charge at room temperature

For charging purposes, your charging cable or your base station can be plugged into any USB power source, including but not limited to:

  • A computer
  • A Wall A/C to USB adapter, commonly found with smartphones
  • A DC to USB adapter (vehicle power port)

To charge your watch:

  1. Plug the charging cable into the USB port on your computer or a UL-certified USB wall charger.
  2. Hold the other end of the charging cable near the port on the back of the watch until attaches magnetically.

  3. Make sure the pins on the charging cable lock securely with the port. The connection is secure when the watch vibrates and the battery icon or percentage appears on the screen.

If there's any questions present, let me know.

The charger supplied is a joke, it doesn't stay attached as the magnets are too weak to support even the slightest amount of pressure, so it constantly falls off, I have tried 3 different chargers and they all have the same issue, it is not the amount of power being supplied to the usb it is a design issue.  The generic response to my post is a telling example of the kind of service you get when someone doesn't really care or know how to solve the problem..... Thank you though for showing me the same info that came with the device.... guess that took a whole 3 mouse clicks to send

I have this exact dock from Amazon. I have never used the cord that came with my Fitbit and have only charged my Ionic once, but it went up to 100% and I think it took around 2 hours. One thing I really like about it is that it is magnetic so once your Ionic gets close it'll set into place nicely.

I purchased this dock because after research I read countless reviews about how big of a pain it is to charge an Ionic with the official cord. Although it is an extremely small sample size, I would recommend that dock from Amazon.

One note on the dock, if you have like a plastic cover over your Ionic, you will have to take it off each charge because the dock is basically an exact fit.

I agree that this is the biggest **ahem** charging device ever designed. 2021 and absolutely nothing changed. I would tell anyone who asked to RUN the other way from any Fitbit products. My wife had a versa and it’s chargedr is even worse. Caused display to come loose and it’s now worthless. Fitbit solution 35% discount on a new one . Why do they think we would replace a pod?

Have you scraped out the groove the charger locates into, on the watch?

My first did this all the time, just the slightest touch would disconnect it or state that the supply was bad.   I found that making sure that groove was clear of crud really helped as it would get packed in daily.

I use a toothpick or plastic pick rather than a metal point.

I have to do that almost daily. Often that doesn’t help. Just a poor connection design which seems to be a common problem throughout the product line
