Hello,
I’ve seen several posts on different devices about Fitbit tracking steps during exercise. The “best answer” I have seen so far is that the step count should be negligible. My Ionic added 5,000 steps during my ride this morning. That is not a negligible amount. I actively start my exercise, not waiting for the device to recognize what I am doing. Are there any plans to enable us to edit our step counts? Or to update the firmware so it doesn’t count steps when you actively start an exercise? I love my Fitbit, but this is very frustrating. Thanks.

Number of steps depends on your ride. The more bumpy, the more steps detected. When I rode the riverside, the number of steps could easily exceed 10k. As much as counting steps during bike ride makes no sense, I don't think Fitbit will ever do anything about it. It has been working like that for many years. Some users got used to it or even want steps as some form of compensation (if they ride more than walk yet still want to fill that gauge for steps). Asking Fitbit to modify the behaviour is a lost cause 🙂 It works as it has been designed to work.
