Alright, I know there are more than one post about this but this is driving me crazy to a point that I want to stop using fitbit products.
I used a fitbit Blaze over 2 years and I recently purchased a Ionic.
This is my experience:
Compared to my Blaze steps count I get around 600-1000 less steps on my Ionic, I've been trying to nail down from where the difference is coming and I think I found what is the issue.
After reading the posts for the Ionic not counting the steps, the fitbit team only suggestion is to count 100 steps and see if the tracker matches the count, which it does and it is usually pretty accurate, I have no issues so far for that and fitbit is washing their hands by saying "Hey, look, the count is accurate, we're counting the steps and you are confirming"
Now, I was not happy with that answer and I kept looking at the behavior of the Ionic when counting steps and I noticed that the gap between the Blaze and Ionic is for the steps not being count by the Ionic on short "trips" so, I found that if I'm at home having dinner and I go to the kitchen the Ionic will not count those steps, on a similar fashion, when I'm at the office and I go for a short walk to grab water or something, it won't count those steps. Or if I'm getting ready for work or dressing up, those shorts steps between the mirror and the closet won't be counted.
Since I personally have a lot of this type of walks, my count steps is being reduced on a good amount, you won't believe how many steps you have on small walks.
Bottom line, Ionic will only count walks that are 20/30+ continuous steps and usually on a straight line.
I moved from the Blaze to the Ionic mainly because of the integrated GPS so my bike rides get tracked easily but I haven't had the chance to try it due to weather but I'm debating to keep the Ionic because it is a little demotivating to see less steps to what you were used to (or probably motivate you to be more active)
I wish fitbit will do something but I can guarantee they won't and the Ionic life is not long, probably another year or less and it'll be discontinued.
I do have similar concerns with the heart rate but that will be another topic
Ps.: My Fitbit is updated to the latest firmware

Hello @Davidendum
Fitbits are designed to ignore any step count below 5 consecutive steps, and should count 5 or more steps.
Do you let your arm seeing naturaly, your hindered count step seems to say the tracker is working as expected.
Not pushing a stroller or cart?

@Davidendum Welcome to the Fitbit forums! Thanks for taking the time to share all of the details about the situation you are experiencing with Ionic not counting all of your steps. Thanks for trying the step accuracy test.
In this case, please check the dominant hand settings:
To change your settings, in the Fitbit app go to Account tab and choose your device at the top of the screen.
Another thing you can do is performing a restart on your watch. This should help if the watch is not tracking data correctly.
Hope you can get to try it while driving your bike soon. Keep me posted!
