Is no one else having issues with the band that comes with the ionic. I like the device, I hate the band. It comes with large band attached, and that is what I used day one. Day 2, switched to small band which is what I should have. The band has detached from the face 7 time in 4 waking hours and once while wearing to bed. Finally had to use one side of large band and one of small to keep the small part from detaching. Plus, have very sore finger from having to jam the end piece in multiple times. Who thought this was a good band design? There is no way the two interlocking pieces of the band will ever come apart, but they will sure detach from the face.

I had similar issue of band not latching and locking. I had to return the unit. The replacement unit came with band properly attached. I haven't had any issue yet on the replaced watch.

Hi. I returned it and purchased another Fitbit charge 2 (the screen cracked on my old one). For the price of the ionic, it did not seem reasonable to keep it. When Fitbit comes out with a new model next year, I'll see if the bands are designed in a more secure fashion than the current ionic design, and consider purchasing at that time.

I had the same problem. I had to change immediately to the small band. It kept falling off. But I followed the advice and really put some pressure into it and this time actually heard the "click." I have not had a problem since!

It usually only takes one time pushing hard and wiggling like started. I have five bands. Most pop right in with mild pressure. A couple took force the first time and now only take a little wiggling.
One other hint. Look at the band latch. You will notice one side sticks out a little. Put that edge in first. The push the other end in and whine appying moderate pressure wiggle until the tab pops out. This is 100 times better than my wife's Alta. She loves the Alta but has lost one.

Okay, I know I'm gonna sound like a madman, but I promise this just worked for me after 20 minutes of unsuccesful wiggling and pressing. Press the button so that you can push the band into the slot. Once the band is in the slot, you'll notice the button hasn't popped back out. Put your thumb on the inner base and pointer on the outer base of the band, right up on the edge closest to the actual watch. This is the thickest part of the band. Do the same thing on the other band with your other hand. Make sure the face of the watch is directed towards your feet. Now, apply a crap ton of pressure inwards, focusing on pressing the fat part of the band onto the connecting edge of the watch. A lot of power should be coming from your pointer finger, and you should be pushing in on both sides. Like, pretend that you are trying to push the bands straight through the watch to meet each other. It's almost like the bands are two horizontal sticks, and you're trying to be make the ends meet. If it's hard to focus on both sides at once, just press on one end at a time while keeping the other VERY still. If you have trouble, you can push in AND away from your torso to get better leverage and force. If you push them in hard enough they'll finally click. Depending on which hand applied more pressure, one end might click before the other upon release of the band. I am SERIOUSLY seriously amazed that that much force was required, but it worked. Don't give up! Fix it Fitbit >:/!!! The watch is too expensive to require such ridiculous troubleshooting methods. Good luck!

Thank you! I just go the Ionic after the long exchange process and was having trouble getting the small band to stay attached. I really jammed it in and heard it click. It now seems secure. Also I only changed one strap to create a medium size.

I literally lost my 13 day old Fitbit Ionic because it detached from the face. It had happened once before and I caught it, before it fell off. Unfortunately, it was a cold day, I was shopping at Costco, and I didn't realize it was gone until I got back in my car. Of course, no one turned it in to the lost and found. FITBIT could trace the time it quit synching and it was right after I entered the store, but before I left the store.
AND FITBIT would not replace it. I am more than disgusted and saddened. Very expensive device that I really like. Unfortunately, FITBIT would not stand behind this defective issue. BUT they offered me a coupon for 25% off another one. REALLY FITBIT??!! REALLY???

After much aggravation, following these directions were the only thing that FINALLY got my band to stay secure. Thank you.

I had the same problem with one of the two bands provided but not the other one. I solved it by using one half of the small band and one half of the large band to create a medium band.

I had the same issues with both of my bands. I contacted Fitbit with the problem, and long story short, they had me ship my ionic back to them since it was defective. As of right now I'm waiting for my replacement to arrive....hopefully this one doesn't have the same issue.

Hi folks. New to the community. I don't own a fitbit product, or any fitness tracker for that matter, but plan to buy one soon. The ionic's on top of my list...I was actually about to buy the other day until I saw posts about the problem with the straps staying in place. To those who experienced the issue, does the problem still happen? Or was it just a case of the strap not clicking into place? perhaps the strap mechanism after being installed properly, simply failed after some time? If the straps click, is the quality of the connection comparable to traditional straps with spring bars? Thanks in advance

Thanks for the replies. If the straps won't fail if they're installed properly, that's something I could live with. But I have to admit, it's a poorly designed part. Shouldn't take that much effort to install straps.
Regarding the bluetooth disconnection issue, quite certain it's more a software issue than a hardware one since this is not the case with even lower Fitbit models. Is your phone on you when you workout?

Was looking at the Charge 2 as well. But I like the features that the Ionic has --- waterproof, gps, I also like the futuristic / and retro (yup, not sure how they made that work) vibe.
