Ionic clock face claims it needs internet access

I tried to install a new clockface, and it pops up and says it needs "Internet" and "Run in Background" access. Why does a clockface need Internet access? It displays time and date. Doesn't it get that from the phone?

It’s good to see you in the community, @KaaSerpent.

Thanks for the details shared in your post. I understand your concern and would like to advise that many clock faces require access to certain stats or permissions in order to work properly, such as access to the internet or the ability to run in the background.. Note that turning off any of these permissions might cause the clock face to stop functioning. For more information about changing a clock face, see How do I change the clock face on my Fitbit device?

Hope this helps.

After previewing new SpO2 faces earlier this year, Fitbit says it’s rolling out one of the options to Ionic and Versa devices. Plus, the upcoming Fitbit Sense and Versa 3 will also have access to the SpO2 face when they arrive later this month.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @Burnice.

I appreciate your participation in the Forums and your input. The SpO2 clock faces are only available in certain countries at this time. For more information on the availability of Fitbit SpO2, see fitbit.com. You can find information about the Fitbit SpO2 feature in How do I track blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) with my Fitbit device?
