Ionic dead

a couple weeks ago my husband's Ionic stopped syncing.  we researched ways to help.  uninstall/reinstall the app, turn off bluetooth, reset the watch.  nothing helped.  a few days later the time was off.  not round hours but a couple hours and a few minutes.  Again tried the recommendations for trouble shooting with no luck.  then the battery started running out every day, normally my husband charges about every three days.  So we decided to let the battery run out and sit dead for about 48 hours.  after that recharged normally.  but still not syncing or pairing.  he does get the code for pairing but now gets a message that it didn't work.  Tried all the above again, uninstall/reinstalled the app, turned on and off bluetooth, etc.  it hasn't sycned in almost a month now and time is still off.  Please help.  I bought it in Dec 2018 for a Christmas present.  I have used fitbits for 6 years with no issues (charge 2 and flex).  Thanks!

I had exactly the same issue, it started in July 11, my ionic stopped syncing, then battery would last 2 days instead of 4 like used to do. after many attempts of pairing with Bluetooth I decided to do a factory reset, and this is when things became bad, first the factory reset worked, I was able to pair again my ionic with the app, BUT then a firmware update came in from the app, and the processes started like normal, at the moment my battery was about 85% so I left it to run, 5 minutes later when it was at 50% of progress my ionic screen went BLACK, I thought in the beginning that it was part of the upgrade process, but no, it was sudden death. my ionic is not responsive since yesterday, I tried all the troubleshooting, and reset techniques, none of them worked, its just death.

now in my case this ionic I got it in April this year, as a replacement from my previous one from warranty, in that moment I got it replaced due to a locked issue, it got locked and the app was unable to unlocked it. so, costumer support told me that since my purchase warranty was already expired my technically new ionic was not cover by their warranty.

I asked them if they could repair it, and the answer was no.

bottom line:

-once fitbit sent you a replacement, this replacement is no longer in warranty.

-fitibit is not admitting an obvious issue in their software/hardware that is making the ionic to brick and die with no solution.

-fitbit is leaving their clients with useless products that has no repair option.

-customer support offered me a coupon of 40% discount in a new ionic, I'm not really exited about, I don't want to pay another $160 for a product that is failing and they don't know what the fail is or the root cause.

even when I liked my Ionic a lot, and would like to get the same functionalities for my smartwatch, so far their customer support expertise turned to be null and their way to deal with this obvious issue that is occurring to many people is highly unethical.

take a look in the forum and you will see the amount of people with the same problem we got.

and for the amount of money this product originally costs it should be a disposable watch.

i have seen several with the same issues so we had plenty of troubling shooting ideas to try.

thanks for the extra information.  it is very frustrating.  My Charge 2 lasted two years before the band broke and i cracked the screen.  I was hoping the Ionic would last at least that long.
