My Ionic black screen started 3 weeks ago, first the timer app died then the exercise app, then blackness descended. I have tried everything I can find in the community and nothing works. The only sign of life is that my laptop bluetooth finds it but won't pair. Up until then it was fine and I bought five more for all my children and spouses, I'm hoping they do not have the same problems.

Hi @Wiscombe,
"I bought five more for all my children and spouses, I'm hoping they do not have the same problems."
To increase the product life (maybe?) try not to let the battery discharge to 0%. Don't let the charge drop below 4 or 5 %, and make sure they NEVER swim with their Icon's, If they must. ONLY swim during the warranty period. After the warranty period there is a very real risk of water damage - and you are on your own. These are NOT waterproof enough for water sports. I won't even shower with mine.
DON'T BELIEVE THE SPIN!
Need proof. Look through all the horror stories in these forums for Ionic's and Versa's failing after swimming and water immersion. I had a Versa that died after a swim, and it appears that the Ionic is even more susceptible to water damage.

Hi @Wiscombe, welcome to the Community Forums!
Thanks for bringing this to our attention and for trying some troubleshooting steps before to posting over here. To better assist you with this, can you please let me know if the heart rate sensors are flashing or is your device completely unresponsive? If you haven't already done so, I recommend you to check our help article: Why isn't my battery charging on my Fitbit device? and let me know how it goes. Such article includes a restart process which can be really helpful for this situation
@PaulMe Thanks for your help and for sharing your thoughts on this thread.
Looking forward to your reply.

My fitbit also now has a black screen. It is charged and is pairing with the app but the display screen is black.
Yesterday the screen was fading and I followed steps are per the community regarding restarting etc but it seems the screen is now dead despite the fact that the device is still working.
Anyone had this issue and/or know if it is fixable?

I have the same problem and I called fitbit - we did troubleshooting and then I was told sorry your warranty has ended. What i am annoyed about is someone who paid $60 for their fit bit got a 1 year warranty but those of us that paid just under $300 for the Ionic when it came out also are subject to the 1 year warranty. I've been a fitbit user since 2012 - not sure if I want to continue if I am spending almost $300 for it a just not randomly turn on one day, as mine has decided to do.

Thanks @PaulMe
I always recharge my Ionic overnight and have never worn it in the shower or swimming, but I will make sure my kis do the same.
Paul.

The same thing happened to me just touched the water and Ionic went Dark! called support they said that hard luck, get another one.
Yeah, they said they can give me a discount which is still higher than if I buy it from Amazon!
Bad Support and not waterproof nevertheless swimming proof.

Hey Ricardo,
My device is completely unresponsive. I have tried all the suggestions in those links with no luck. I ave cleaned the contacts and know the charger and connections are fine because I have also tried charging using my wife's charger which is working fine for her Ionic.

Mine just did this too. And I got the same spiel - sorry your device is not working properly and not working properly. Here's a discount code per the warranty policy. What happened to customer loyalty and appreciation? This is my 6th tracker now. How many more before I qualify for a free one? You want to keep me in the FitBit family? For the amount of money I've given you, 35% off a new tracker after the last one fried in under 2 years is an insult, not a favor.
