Yeah the Ionic will not GPS track as accurately vs many other GPS devices. Out of 5 GPS devices we use - the Ionic is the least accurate and least reliable. Comparatively the Ionic will lose its weak GPS signal much more frequently leading to squiggly tracks and large track gaps. So best to be used as a vague GPS tracker where accuracy is not too important. Many others have reported about this problem since the device was introduced. Could be the GPS antenna is not well placed or of low quality. As our old simple GPS Timex watches track much more consistently than the Ionic.
Definitely our various smart phones GPS track much more accurately and much more consistently.

Many have followed this straightforward advice and now have a replacement Ionic - we all should have “zero tolerance” for any defective Ionic
