Ionic elliptical tracking

There is no setting for this machine. I seem to get an unusual combination of stair steps and walking steps, neither of which could be accurate. Just switched from the Alta HR to Ionic and the numbers are totally different over the same time period and intensity.

Have you added the Elliptical exercise short cut to your Ionic? You can do this by following the instructions here.

1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap the Account icon  >  your device image.
2. Tap Exercise Shortcuts.
3. To add a new exercise shortcut, tap the +icon and select Elliptical (You may first have to remove a short cut before you can add another one - see step 4). 
4. To remove an exercise shortcut, swipe left on a shortcut (on Windows 10, tap the trashcan icon).
5. To reorder an exercise shortcut, press and hold a shortcut, then drag it up or down to change its position.
6. Sync your device.

I cannot locate the phrase exercise shortcut. I did ignore two and added elliptical. However the selection of elliptical does not appear on my device. So, i cannot select it when working out form my wrist. Must I do so on my phone? Seems not user friendly.
