Ionic exercise app won't open

i select Exercise app on watch face, screen flashes green then goes dark for a second, but not allowing me to select an exercise. So i start workout anyway thinking it may Auto pick up my movements... Nothing. Any ideas?

@Stratos88 Welcome to the Fitbit family! That is strange, thanks for reporting this situation. Are you still experiencing the same?

 

I'd recommend performing a restart on your Ionic. This should help sorting this out. It should also help with the SmartTrack feature on your Ionic. 

 

When you see your activity history, i are you able to see any activities?

I’m having the exact same issue. Have restarted my Fitbit with no luck. Exercise and Coach both just flash, then go back to home screen. All other apps will open normally.

I am experiencing the same since I attempted (but failed) to install the firmware update

Thanks for performing the restart steps @JaclynMick. Thanks for trying to update Ionic to its latest firmware version. @fozzy68

I believe this situation will be resolved once you both do the firmware update. If you haven't tried to please follow these steps.

If the update fails, please try these troubleshooting steps to resolve that.

I've attempted the update a few times now, even leaving it overnight (both
phone and ionic plugged in, connected to wifi and bluetooth)...and it won't
get past about 60% completion. Should it be taking this long?

Same problem . My update finally finished (at least according to my phone, but on my watch it still showed it updating). I've tried restarting my watch multiple times (5+) hoping that would fix the exercise flash, but it's still not opening. This is super annoying, so I hope there's a patch soon!

I am having the exact same issue after trying to update my watch. I've tried updating 4 times now and it wont finish the update and now my exercise app wont work on my watch. i've tried everything.

Im also having the same problem. All the promblemshooting advise dosent work. I´ve tried all of them now. This is a new watch and I expected more for this prise.

Ok so for those that are having trouble updating to the latest firmware, DO NOT use your phone!  Use a computer, trust me, it's a lot quicker and will save you a lot of headaches.

 

Second, once the Firmware update is complete, the issue with the apps not opening should be resolved, however, it may not hurt to do a restart after the update anyway just to make sure it takes.

 

If all else fails, I encourage you to contact Support.

Had tech support walk me thru factory reset.   This worked. But lost my music.  So it’s all updated and working 🙌🏻

Hi have been having issues on updating the firmware for the last two months. It consistently errors out half way through the installation. Have tried by Bluetooth and WiFi several times. Have unpaired and rebooted the Ionic several times. I am now at the point where the exercise app now doesn’t work. 

Given I have tried all steps to try and update firmware and failed what are my next steps?

Hello everyone! Thanks for your continuous participation on this thread regarding Ionic's firmware update.

If you are experiencing trouble while updating Ionic, please check and follow the steps on this helpful article. This should certainly help you out with this. Try the steps in the order given there for best results.

Also, for the one wondering how to factory reset Ionic try the following:

  • Go to Ionic's Settings app.
  • Tap About.
  • Tap Factory Reset.
  • Try update again.

This has helped for other users in the past. Please try this as a last resort as this will erase every app, music, clock face, etc. That you have installed on your watch.

I'm having the exact same issue of the exercise app not opening. I can touch the icon for it and the icon then pops up center screen and then it goes right back to the previous screen not allowing me to see or choose one of my exercises.  I have tried restarting my Ionic, I have the latest software installed and there are no further updates that I see.  I have also tried changing my chosen exercises and preferences and nothing seems to be working.  Is there anything else that I can try?  Seems like this has been an issue for a few people.  Has anyone successfully resolved it?

I am getting the same thing this morning -- I choose the Exercise options -- goes to the app as if it is going to open to let me choose an exercise option but screen closes and takes me back to the watch/time of day function

This has started for me today as well.

 

I've contacted customer support but has anyone had any kind of resolution to this as all???

I have had the same error starting today.  Previously, it worked fine.  I tried a hard reset of the watch with no success.

After I contacted fitbit, who were no absolutely help, I spent a lot of time scrolling through the internet and found a lot of people who have had the same problem say to uninstall the app and do a complete factory reset.

 

I took a deep breath, did it, and luckily to worked. I didn't lose any of my information either. It did take a long time to try an reconnect to my phone in the setup process though (I literally spent a good 2-3 hours playing about with it) - but definitely give it a go and stick with it.
