My ionic was synching ok with my android phone (Galaxy S6) for the first couple of months. Since the beginning of Jan (presumably something to do with the firmware update) it's been getting slower and slower to synch. I've tried all the solutions suggested by mods in other threads (ie turning watch/phone/bluetooth on and off).
Today, after it hadn't synched for nearly 2 days, I tried the usual solutions, and when they wouldn't work, deleted it from my fitbit app on my phone so I could re-install it. And - guess what - now it won't re-install.
I've had a succession of fitbits for the last 3 years and not really had any problems until I got the ionic.
Have started the conversation with customer services - but has anyone got any better ideas? Or is experiencing something similar?

@HackneyCat Welcome to the Fitbit Community! Thanks for performing some troubleshooting steps and for reporting this with customer support. What did customer support did for you?
There are some other things you can try in order to get it to pair back again to your account (if you already did some of these steps, please try them again in the order given):
If after doing that you keep experiencing the same, try setting it up using a computer. That should help you out!

Done that and more, nothing works. Change your pre-written troubleshooting steps in the book. Need to get the programmers involved or design team.

My Ionic was working perfect for about 5 months and I liked it very much.
Now I suddenly have synch problems! It just won't synch anymore with my Android phone (same setup nothing changed). There is a vague error message sometimes stating "Synch problem". Well that won't help any user would it!?
Now, I tried everything like turning restarting watch (from menu), restarting bluetooth, restarting phone, reinstalling Fitbit app. No luck.
Finally I was restarting it using the lower to buttons, but then the watch apparently died although I just had it charged to 100%. It won't start any more anyway.
I thought this was a really neat product, but it seems that it is not useable.
So I will be returning it tomorrow to the shop where I bought it.
It is a shame.
My Best Regards!

@Ironic2 Welcome to the Fitbit Community! Thanks for posting the situation you experienced with Ionic not syncing. Thanks for trying all of those steps in order to sort this out.
Once you return this unit, will they be giving you a replacement? If you have the option to get it replaced would be great! That way you can set it up and keep tracking your data.
What type/model of phone are you using?

I really have given up on the idea to continue using Fitbit Ionic as it is way too unstable. I have spent far more time than any user should to try to get the sync working. Especially as it worked without problems for 5 months solid, but now it seems impossible to get it to sync anymore. It is not fun!
Generally I think the store would like to replace the unit, but I will argue to get my money back as I don't have the time nor the engagement to fiddle around the setup anymore. It should just work!
Too bad, but I think the Ionic has too many serious bugs/problems that makes it not ready for public use. If you Google on Ionic fails to sync you'll see that there are lots of people having trouble with it. That's the reality for you guys.
Also, the error messages are so poor. It is not good enough to say "some error occured". You must be more specific. I use the Nokia 6.2 Android phone.
My Best Regards

I am having the same problem as well. Tried all those steps and now I just have a Fitbit not linked to any device and my phone won't see it to set it up again. Now what?

Hello Fitbit,
I recently purchased a Fitbit Ionic and it worked fine (synced well) until I connect my phone (Android) to any other Bluetooth device. After that, the Ionic will not sync at all.
I`ve tried all the steps mentioned in the fixes and workarounds, and the only one that temporarily fixes the issue is un-pairing the devices and re pairing them. After this process, the issue appears again and again.
I cannot go through this process everytime I need to pair my Ionic.
Please offer support on this.
Thanks,
Catalin

Strange! Still problems here.
I have now a 32Euro tracker.
Bluetooth on
App on
Data available.
No delay in synchronisation.
I'm wondering why I should buy Fitbit with all that problems! ![]()
BTW: For 32 Euro, i have also blood oxi available and it's nearly perfect, compared with my stand alone pulsoxi.
So. I don't have Fitbit anymore!
Enjoy your live!
