My Ionic heart rate monitor just stopped working today. It is stuck on 70 on or off my wrist. Tried switching it on and off and doing a reset but no success in getting the heart rate working.

Welcome back to the Community @jeromesmiths. Thanks for the details mentioned and the troubleshooting performed.
I would like you to confirm your device is positioned correctly on your wrist, tighten the band so that it doesn’t slip on your wrist. For more information, see How do I track my heart rate with my Fitbit device?
Please confirm you've restarted it following these steps.
Let me know how it goes.

Confirming I have restarted the device. I have been using the device for just over a year now and its not given any problems in displaying and recording the heart rate, so with regards to the positioning ... I am positive it is positioned correctly.
1. When the device is not on my wrist it displays and records a heart reading that reaches up to the peak heart rate.
2. Then after a charge at times it shows no heart reading / or a reading that does not change on or off my wrist
I suspect that maybe the device has a lifespan of one year and that the "end of lifespan" may have been reached hence it not working as expected. ( it would be great if Fitbit would warn potential buyers that the product has a 1 year lifespan i.e. after a year it will stop functioning as intended ) And lifespan is not to be confused with warranty. The warranty in my case is only valid for a period of 365 days, after which there is no more obligation of any kind from Fitbit with regards to its products )
