So I bought my husband a new Ionic for Christmas 2017. Worked into July and started losing time. Eventually did a factory reset after trying everything else talked about on the forums which totally froze it so they sent us a new one. This past week, the new one has started losing time and isn't always syncing with iphone. Tried everything but a factory reset and noticed it keeps better time when it isn't worn. I'm so upset that I spent so much money on something that has caused such headaches. When I call for assistance, I'm told to restart it and that works about half the time. Was told we should be syncing it several times a day but isn't that what auto sync is for? Last person I spoke to, I think I knew more what to try than they did.
Any suggestions?

Welcome on board @briggb! Thanks for troubleshooting this syncing issue, nice way to go!
While reading your post, my first thought is that your Ionic might be no longer paired to your Fitbit account and that's why it's not syncing or connecting to your phone's Bluetooth. In order to solve this, please go to the Bluetooth settings on your phone and remove the tracker. In the list of Bluetooth devices you'll see the Ionic and next to it, this symbol "!". Hit the symbol and it will take you to the next step, once you're there select the option that says "Forget this device".
Once you've made sure about that, go back to the Fitbit app, go to the "Account" option in the upper right corner and select "Set up a Device". This should start the setup process for your device.
If you can't get started with your Fitbit device, usually a missing requirement is the cause. Carefully review the requirements below:
If you're still unable to set up, try these troubleshooting steps:
Note that if your tracker is not paired, it won't show the correct time as it grabs the time of your phone. Check this post in case the time keeps showing wrong.
Give this a go and let me know the outcome!
Was my post helpful? Give it a thumbs up to show your appreciation! Of course, if this was the answer you were looking for, don't forget to make it the Best Answer! Als...

The Ionic works fine...as long as no one is wearing it. Yesterday, after running all of this, I left it on the dining room table (my husband wore his old blaze). The phone it was synced to was at work with my husband. The time all day was correct. He came home, put it on, went to the gym and 2 hours later it was 20 minutes behind.
This has now happened two days in a row. Why would it work fine until it's put on? I'm afraid to do a factory reboot because that's what I did in July and one which was replaced ended up in a endless loop.

Try removing the Blaze from the account. My Ionic and Blaze did not play well with each other.
