Ionic not charging

Before I get started, yes I did read similar topics. This is my last ditch effort.  Not sure if it’s related, but since last big update FitBit software update it seems like it had mins of its own. I get notification (it vibrates, mind you now it’s 5-ish seconds delayed) I flip my wrist, nothing. I push the left button, screen still not turning on, only after waiting 15-20 seconds does it turn on when I push the button. Then yesterday, battery was low, I plug it in, it shows charging, after couple of hours I go to use it, I unplug it, it shuts off, I plug it in, shows charging but doesn’t charge. Tried restarting many times, restarts but no change in charging. Tried plugging it in my computer, nothing (& restarting as well). Sooo, to FitBit Corp. This is my third FitBit, Surge, then Blaze and now Ionic. Ionic I got as Xmas present 1 year & 2 weeks ago, which means unless I missed some fix I can do myself I’m out of luck as the warranty just expired. So question 1. Anyone have any other suggestions and question 2. If not, FitBit Corp. Is 1 year all I can expect out of your product that cost $380?

Thank you in advance

Yeah this is a common theme on this Help forum.  The device lasts a year or so then craps out for many.  Maybe a form of planned obsolescence.

From what has been posted it looks like Tech Support will try to kick start the thing.  Then offer a discount on another device.  So would try that.  They may get it to work somehow.  Maybe a reset to new as a last resort.

But many come to the conclusion that staying with Fitbit is not worth it.  So end up switching to something else.  Many leave very unhappy.  But would call them anyways and see what they say.

No one on here has the authority to get you a replacement.  All major problems get pushed to Tech Support anyways.

Really there is no need to suffer in Frustration - simply call Tech Support at 877-623-4997 and get your Ionic replaced right now while you can
Many have followed this straightforward advice and now have a replacement Ionic - we all should have “zero tolerance” for any defective Ionic

This is odd because I faced the same issue on yesterday. I only had it for 13 months.  They wouldn't replace it, only gave me a 25% discount on a new one.  I had just charged it a few days ago and still had plenty battery life.  It just went completely black yesterday evening.  I think something happened on that last update.  Looks like they were trying to force us to buy a new one.

Quite a few people starting to report the same issue and starting around the same time

Thanks for your advice I appreciate it. I will call tech support, if that doesn’t work I guess I’m switching to Apple Watch. It may cost more but it’s more reliable from what I hear.

I have gone through that checklist and none of the suggestions/problems apply.  When I attached my Ionic first few times it showed “charging” but it would never charge up. And now it doesn’t even turn on or register when I connect it to the cable.

regards,

Alen
