Ionic not charging

My Ionic will not charge. At first when I attached the charging cable it lit up and displayed 0%. Now it is completely dead. I have tried several different USB sockets but still nothing. 
As the Ionic is completely dead there is no option to do any kind of restart. 
can anyone help with this ?
