Ionic not working after swimming

My Fitbit Iconic is about 1.5 years only (purchased in July 2018).    I have swam with this device before and it has never given me problems.  This time it starting turning on and off after the swim and within a half hour shut down and it will not turn back on or accept a charge.    Is there any fix available for this issue or advice on how to proceed?
