Ionic notifications require phone restart message

Hi, I have an LG G5 phone and have never once really had good consistent notifications with my ionic like I did previously with my blaze (its no longer paired or on my fitbit app as I gave it away to a friend so that's not the problem here) since this last update in the firmware on the ionic itself though I get absolutely NO notifications at all  Not for phone calls, texts, email or any of the 3rd party apps I've enabled.   All I ever get every single time I open the darned fitbit app on my phone is a notice about how I need to restart my phone to enable the notifications.  I do that and open the app and the notice is still there and nothing at all is changed. Have done the usual uninstall, reinstall of the app itself... rebooted the ionic itself and the phone countless times ... Why does this very expensive piece of equipment that is supposed to be an upgrade from the last model (blaze) work about half as well as the blaze did for more than twice the price? Notifications just don't work and don't get me started on the stair climbing that we still can't adjust or turn off. If you'd look at mine you'd think I'm a professional firefighter climbing the sears tower daily (up to 88 flights a day when I do absolutely none!) useless! This will be my last fitbit product I think  They don't seem invested in fixing their repeated problems at all!  This issue has been a problem since the charge 2 days and nothing has ever been resolved on it. Stair climb issues go back to the blaze and probably before..when will these things be fixed?

Have you checked your phones settings with the Fitbit help setup guide?
