Ionic + other devices

Hi

I recently acquired a  Flex 2 to work along side my Ionic as I have an activity that involves a lot of movement, but I'm not allowed to wear a watch while doing.  I'd really like to not lose that activity in my account.  I'm wondering what the reason is that I can't add a second device to my account that has an Ionic on it?

Thanks

Jeff

Have you tried to add the flex?

It generally the smart watches that cant go on the same account

So its worth a try.

I will say I could not add my Ionic to any account and had to open a new one. It just does not play well with others

I have tried linking it, when I get to the screen after I select Flex 2, it basically tells me I have to remove my Ionic from my account.

I think this might be a bug in the latest fitbit app update? As anything I try adding including the aria 2 scale asks me to remove the Ionic first.

That seems not to work when trying to have an Ionic and a Versa on the same account.  Bought a Versa to use interchangeable with my Ionic and I can't get combined stats because they can't both be on the same account.  Sooooo not happy right now.

As far as I am aware Ionic, Versa and Charge 3 cannot be used on a single account. Some strange limitation.

That seems to be the case.  I wouldn't mind switching if everything carried over but as I discovered today the following transitioned: steps and distance traveled.  I lost the following: floors climbed, calories burned and active minutes.  I lost all the stats even though they are all supposed to be stored on the Fitbit servers somewhere.  I used my Ionic to walk a little over 7 miles this morning (approximately 125 active minutes) and then switched to the new Versa.  My distance looks good, as do my steps but my active minutes only reflect the 30 minute walk I just took with the Versa and my calories burned are at 712.  Neither of these is correct.  My floor count isn't correct either.  If all that carried over, I could switch back and forth but not if I'm going to lose the representation of the work I've completed during the day.  Again I say, I'm soooo not happy.

@taz4352that is what's supposed to happen, as in everything being stored on the server and carrying over. Perhaps the Ionic didn't fully sync before you removed it from your account?

It's certainly the experience I get when I switch between my Ionic, Versa and Charge 3. Although I agree, having to switch like that isn't ideal and hopefully Fitbit can sort out a better solution.

@N8teGee Maybe you're right.  I thought I had totally synced but I find that sometimes I have to sync 2 or 3 times before everything shows up on my dashboard.  I'll try it again in a while and see what happens.  Having to switch is not ideal but it doesn't take that long and as long as everything transfers I can live with it for now.  I do hope they will come up with a better solution.

@taz4352 the indication of proper syncing usually is the beating heart in the app ( the HR tile ). Otherwise, sometimes it looks like the sync happened but in fact, it didn't ( and there is no error ). I spent part of the morning trying to sync Ionic today and not a single error occurred but sync didn't happen ( and every day brings the same game to play since FW3.0 ). So always look whether the numbers in the app updated and the heart is beating.

@SunsetRunner I did not know that but it's handy information to have.  Thanks.  Based on that information, I'm pretty sure the Ionic hadn't finished syncing yet which is why the data didn't transfer.  New test later or tomorrow.

Tried this again this morning and made sure all the syncing was complete first and everything did transfer except I did discover that I had to re-do some settings (App Notifications, Dominant/Non-Dominant Wrist).  Barring any update that allows both to be in the same account at the same time, at least I can switch back and forth without too much trouble and not lose my numbers.  I can live with that for the time being and hope that at some point Fitbit will fix this issue.

@taz4352, thanks for the update. Glad to hear it worked out for you Smiley Happy

I did notice that switching effected some of the apps, I had a calendar app that lost all of it's settings. As I no longer use any apps it's not an issue for me, but can understand it might be for some.
