Ionic screen brittle

Last time I purchase anything from fitbit.  Purchased the ionic back in May 2018, and the screen now has a crack.  Not a scratch anywhere on this tracker, never dropped, banged or anything that could’ve caused it to crack.  Fitbit will not cover.  They say it’s gorilla glass, I say it’s junk.  Buyer beware, screen is very brittle.  Almost $300 down the drain.

That's the nature of Gorilla Glass, very hard but very brittle(much like carbide in cutting tools). Keeps the guys at the mall in business replacing cracked smart phone screens I guess. You'll find that most smart/fitness watch and smart phone companies use Gorilla Glass for how resistant it is to scratching and cracking is just something you have to be careful of regardless of whether you noticed bumping it or not.
Ionic, retired Blaze.

Yes it is Gorilla Glass 3, and yes Gorilla Glass 3 is not Unbreakable. That's the reason every mall has several phone repair shops that advertise screen replacement performed.

Yes my phone provider will replace the screen, but even when it breaks in 14 hours, yes this happened to me. Their response? $160 please and we will replace the screen!

This is why people by insurance, of which Fitbit does offer, or can be prurchesed independently.

I say all phones must then be junk, don't you agree?

My neighbor's car got totaled, when a car ran a stop sign, no one was in the car. This happened the day after purchase, can you believe the dealer did not send him a new car?

Not even apple would fix a screen break under warranty. Sure they will charge an arm to fix it, while Fitbit will give a discount towards a new tracker. Either way it is cheaper than a new device.
