My Ionic that I have been happily using since I received it at Christmas in 2017 has seemingly died. It was pretty well charged when it shut off and has zero response now. No green lights on the back, it won't restart, it won't charge...nothing. Any ideas?

If you are lucky enough to live in the EU, contact Fitbit support to get a new one. If you’re in the US... you’re probably out of luck unless you bought some kind of extended warranty. If you look on this forum you’ll see many Ionics have suffered similar fates.

The trouble shooting they will give is to hold down the left and bottom right buttons for a few seconds to see if it restarts. I’ve tried every button press I can imagine and nothing has worked for me, but no harm in trying.

talked with Fitbit Customer Service about the problem. The rep was really nice and she was authorized to offer me 50% off for a replacement Ioinic, PLUS and extra band since I wasn't happy with having to buy a new one. Well let me tell you that almost swayed me! NOT! No way will I buy another Fitbit product! I know the warranty is out but this problem doesn't seem to be unique, they should fix it. Not paying for another Ionic I will spend my consumer dollars elsewhere and try my luck on another brand

That was a better deal than most get. Almost unilaterally the FitBit solution is to give 40% off a new Ionic or 25% off any other FitBit. Also they generally will claim to note have heard of the problem before,

Funny ... I'm in line to contact support about my second Ionic that has died on me in 6 months. I'm still in my warranty period, so hopefully they'll replace it for free. I hate going through this though, and now I hate hearing other people find it common.

I literally had the same problem this very weekend. So very disappointed. I have loved Fitbit for many years and have been a loyal customer. I have had the Flex and the Alta HR, both with batteries that still work YEARS later. I have only had the Ionic since April 2018, not even a year and a half and the battery has crapped out. If this is a known problem, why aren't they replacing the Ionics? When you spend $300 on a product, I would expect to get more than a year and three months out of it.... Also, why is it that Europe gets two years of warranty and the US gets one?!

Because the law in the EU states that products need to have a 2 year warranty, they are much better about consumer protection there than in the U.S. The only solution seems to be to vote with our wallets, I’m trying out both the Garmin Vivoactive 3 and the Apple Watch to figure out which I’d like to use to replace my Ionic.
