Ionic stopped working after update

I see several people have had the same issue. I've been a Fitbit user for years.. I think I'm done. My Ionic was working perfectly & is physically in great shape.. but it is now out of warranty. I ran this spring's update & it got stuck on the logo screen.. I tried several restarts & the same thing happened, so I tried a reset. Now it is completely dead.. I chatted with a customer service rep & they offered me a 25% off coupon for a new device. My $250 device was perfectly fine prior to this update. I purchased this Ionic as an upgrade after all of my previous Fitbits mysteriously died just out of warranty. If a firmware update kills something a customer payed that much $ for, warranty or not, the company should replace the device.
