Ionic stopped working

Once again, my Ionic has died but this time it doesn't seem to want to be revived.

Previously, it behaved like this after an update, but on this occasion (assuming there was no update I was unaware of), it had been working fine for most of the day, successfully syncing with more than 70% battery on 13 July 2019.  I got into the shower with it before taking it off, then went out and found it unresponsive when I tried to get the time.

I have tried the usual reset and cleaning options, without success (no recognition of the watch in the app, no response to button presses, no response to factory reset, no response when connecting to power).  I have also tried going through the process I went through last time (which took over two weeks!!), leaving it charging for a day, unplugging for a day, trying to charge it again then giving up for a couple of weeks before trying again and finding it struggle back to life.  This time, however, leaving the watch charging for a day heated it up, which is a bad sign, so I unplugged it and am not hopeful of a revival this time.

Are there any other options to try to revive this watch or do I now have a dud?

Thanks
