My ionic stops vibrating for notification, achievement and alarm. Have done soft reset, factory reset, unpair then pair again in bluetooth device. Still doesn't work

Welcome to the Community @wupeiwen. Thanks for the details mentioned and the troubleshooting tried.

Your Fitbit device vibrates to alert you at various times, including if you set an alarm, when you hit your step goal, or if you haven’t met your hourly activity goal. Please make sure you've set an alarm to confirm that your Ionic isn't vibrating.

You can also test the vibrator motor by opening the timer, to do so:

  1. Open the Timer app and choose the stopwatch.
  2. Tap the play icon to start. Your device should vibrate.

If after this, your Ionic is still not vibrating please try restarting it

Note that on Fitbit Ionic and Fitbit Versa devices, alarms don’t alert you if your battery is below 8%.

Let me know how it goes. I'll be around if you need further assistance.

Hi Silvia,

No, my ionic didn't vibrate whether I hit my step goals; or didn't meet hourly goal. I can see notification on screen but ionic doesn't vibrate. I also tried alarm when ionic is fully charged and tried stopwatch. Still doesn't get any vibration. Have restated the device a few times as well. I also did a factory reset last week that didn't work either.

Please let me know what else I can try to make it work?

I am having this exact same issue.  I’ve restarted my Ionic multiple times, I’ve done a factory reset.  This started 2 days ago, it won’t vibrate for any reason - not on notifications, not for a timer ending or for an alarm and does not vibrate when plugged in.  This ionic is my 2nd and I purchased it less than a year ago.

Hi, my watch suffers from the same pain. Is there any known cure in the meanwhile? I went through all the steps and checks as described on the forum but nothing makes the vibration function work when a message or any other notification appears on the screen. The watch worked perfectly fine for approx. 3 months. Quite short for a flag ship.... Thanks for your quick reply.

My ionic is the same, did you get it working?

I am having the same issue. No vibration at all. It is quite frustrating. I have missed my alarm because of this a few times. I have tried all the suggestions on this forum but it doesn’t work. I’ve only had the watch for 2 months. Has there been a solution for this yet?

I have made sure my ionic is charged and already tried a timer and when it counts down there is a visual but no vibration. My watch doesn’t vibrate for anything. Not even opening an app.

No it didn't work out. In fact my watch completely died a few days later after I ran out of battery and it would charge anymore, even after 3 days... I got it replaced since it was only 7 months old. I hope this new one lasts longer because apart from the vibration issue I REALLY like this watch.

My Ionic stopped vibrating at all. I tried the reset a couple of times using the back button/lower button method and it did nothing to fix the problem. I read somewhere to try turning the Ionic off after that as well. I did that by going to Settings/About/Shutdown on the watch. I then couldn't get it to even turn back on. I did the reset on the dark screen and it came back and is now vibrating.

My Ionic does this on a consistent basis but I also have problems with it
getting stuck counting steps and rebooting by itself during exercises. For
the vibrating problem sometimes I had to reboot the watch several times in a
row holding down the bottom button and single button together until the logo
appears each time. A couple of times I turned the watch off using settings
(swipe through the apps until you see it) and turning off the watch using
the Shutdown command under the About settings at the bottom. If not I just
repeat the above steps and it eventually seems to come back. You then just
push the single button and the watch starts again. Sometimes I had to do
the two button salute to get it to start again. Each time I set the timer
app for 5 secs to see if it vibrates.

Thanks for the reminder. My year warranty is up in a few days so I'm going
to call and see if I can't get it replaced since I have additional problems
with freezing on step counts and rebooting unexpectedly on its own.

12/20/20 - I'm having the same issue with vibration not working. I recently had the backplate replaced and when I got the watch back it totally didn’t work properly. The technician said he synced my unit to his phone app to test it so all of my data was gone and replaced with his. After several days of ALL troubleshooting steps I finally decided to do a factory reset. Eureka everything is back to normal except my music is gone and it doesn't vibrate. I can live without music but I rely heavily on the vibration alerts. I really hope you can help me. Thanks.
