Ionic stops when exercising

When I go running I select run. All ok GPS activates and clock starts. However when I have finished my run I look at my watch, the clock face is showing instead of the run screen and when I look at my phone only a part of the run has been tracked. I dont wear any clothing or do anything which might turn the run function off and it has only started doing this recently. I have had the watch for 3 months now. Can anyone please advise me if there is something I can do to remedy this?

This is mostly a comment for the benefit of Fitbit Support and Customer services!

I am a very long term user of the Fitbit products. Over the past 7yrs, my family and I have used various trackers, One, Flex, Force, Charge, Alta, Versa, and we have tracked our weight using the Aria scales for over 4 yrs. I have used the Ionic myself for over 2.5 yrs now. I have a lot of personal time, effort and data invested into the Fitbit platform!

This has been an ongoing problem for me, which has again happened to me today (hence I decided to add a response to this posting!) I have tried various things to get to the source of the problem, including not having any clothes within the region of my wrist whilst I walk/run. I find this EXTREMELY frustrating, as I have been recording my activities for many years, and these events become voids within the records of my exercise tracking. Which is not sufficiently rectified by manually logging the activity after the event as you lose the GPS elements as well as adding additional calories burnt. Furthermore, this problem has existed across two Ionic devices, as after about 1 yr, my first Ionic 'bricked' whilst charging one time, so this is not a problem with the device ageing, unless these devices are only intended to last for 1-2 yrs each. I think the Ionic suffers from malfunction when body fluids (sweat) increase around sensors on the back of the device!

Whereas I have to say that I am reasonably satisfied with my experience with Fitbit products and they have enabled me to take control of my overall wellbeing in the last few years, helping me to reduce my weight by ~6st/40kgs and improve my heart fitness (resting heart rate down from 98bpm to 62bpm ave. and cardio fitness now 50-Excellent), This problem makes the device about 80-90% satisfactory as an exercise tracking device and so impacts my overall satisfaction in the Fitbit platform.

The problem is significant enough that I am now considering taking the large decision to abandon the Fitbit platform all together and move across to a combination platform, using the Apple Watch and other products by Withings.

I did recently also subscribe to the Fitbit Premium platform, but I guess if I decide to move away from Fitbit, then I will not be continuing this subscription beyond my free trial.

I know this may seem like an over-the-top action to take, but I think it should impress on the team at Fitbit how a very small but also significant issue can effect one's overall trust and loyalty in their platform and ultimately result in loss of customers and revenue; which will result in the demise of their community!
