Mine just bricked yesterday.

Fitbit Ionic (burnt orange/slate version)

Purchased through Amazon 25 Feb 18

Died 30 Mar 19 (post warranty).

Tried everything:

- recharge overnight (cleaned the contacts first)

- reboot (left + bottom right >10 secs)

- various combinations of buttons for extended periods (even tried the "all three buttons for 1 min" suggestion) - no joy

I had purchased an extended warranty through Amazon ($35/3 yrs). Called them this morning - company in Canada is "Asurion" - can raised a claim. Waiting to hear back from their claims folks on where to send it for service.

Didn't contact Fitbit as figured they would say sorry, out of warranty = out of luck.

Incidentally, I didn't have Pandora installed. Don't think that's the cause.

By the way...I don't think this thread should be marked with an Accepted Solution (that basically says we're all SOL).

Just sayin...

Why do you think Pandora is an issue? Interesting. Just curious as to why, and do you think Deezer has a similar issue?

I didn't think Pandora was an issue at all .

Earlier in the thread, some folks were speculating it might be the cause. I was just adding my input to that in order to further clarify that this issues with bricked Ionics is most likely not related to that app.

Same Thing happened to me. It has been 1 year and 4 days that I got mine!! Not happy at all! Time to switch to another brand if Fitbit won't make things right ;(

No not helpful! Had my ionic 1 year and 4 days and now it's dead! I've been having syncing issues and been doing everything it says on here and still nothing! Now its completely dead. Very frustrated with Fitbit Smiley Sad

Did not have pandora.  Couldn't afford it after what i paid for the watch.

Good for you, mine is a brick.

I agree about the thread, its not accepted.  And i posted the original comment.

I have good news for you Paul!!!  I also bought my Ionic from amazon and was 4 months out of warranty when my second watch failed with an unreadable screen.  I kindly explained the problems I had with my ionic and how there was mass frustration on the fitbit forums and believe it or not Amazon gave me a full refund if I sent the watch back to them.  Amazon basically made all of this better for me which in turn allowed me to move on and be happy.  The 12 month warranty is not the issue as much as it is the high failure rate of the Ionic in or around the warranty.

Yay <sarcasm>, I'm part of the club, too. On Friday I was cleaning the house, looked down at my wrist and discovered my Ionic was dead.

I just got off a chat with customer service where they had me plug it into the charger, push buttons, and declared it dead. But since it's out of warranty they offered me the big 25% discount on a new Fitbit device. It's only 15 months old! Like everybody else, I took really good care of it, so there's no reason it shouldn't work. I am NOT happy.  😠

After having this same problem and reading these posts I agree these watches are designed to die after about a year.  It’s ludacrist to ask someone to buy another defective product when they are clearly aware this is happening on a widespread level, intentionally or not.  Smart consumers take their business elsewhere.  There has to be some other recourse for consumers in America like the UK residents have.  I can’t help but wonder why this company has decided to start scamming their customers.

I am officially part of this club too as all the ions just left my device.  The thing had north of 50% battery left and died while on my wrist sometime during the day.  No dice on the 3 button reboot trick or using low and high power USB outlets.  IT IS DEAD!!

Go buy a something from a different manufacturer if it’s not under warrenty

Isn't it terrible that hundreds of us (and those are just people that come to the forums to post) have Ionics that have failed at the 12-15 month time period. I will never understand how Fitbit get's away with this. I would love for the company to stand behind their product; for them to tell us WHY the device is failing at this crucial time period. They don't seem to have an explanation; all they offer is a discount on a new one...no thank you!

I absolutely agree with you.

This has to be a record.  My watch died yet again and will be replaced for a third time.  It obvious to me that the Ionic is faulty and is a piece of garbage.  It's either a case of manufactured obsolescence or bad code in the firmware/OS/software.  I've asked Fitbit to replace my watch with a Charge 3 (roughly half the cost of an Ionic) but they won't budge.  So I'm considering selling my replacement on eBay and buying a competitors brand.  I've had dozens of Fitbits in my family over the years.  They've lost our business by simply being foolish!

My Ionic has stopped functioning after little more than a year. My Aria 2 scale also stopped working within a year. $400 worth of products bought in 2018 already broken.

Same here - second Fitbit watch to crap out in a little over two years. each one made it just past their warranty. Done. Looks like I will turn to Samsung or Suunto for better reliability.

My Ionic died today (bought 11/28/2017) and it had a 91% charge. Within two hours the screen was dead and would never power back on. Reading all the posts about the way Fitbit has treated users of the Ionic I'm going to buy a new smart watch from another manufacturer.

Mine is toast after 15 months....A $500.00 Canadian door stop....this is NOT success

My Fitbit Ionic died yesterday. It was a 2017 Christmas Gift from my son who passed away last year. I'm heartbroken.

I have been a loyal Fitbit user since the beginning of these watches, but if Fitbit doesn't make this right, knowing there is a defect in these watches, my replacement money will be going towards a different brand. This is just not right that so many of us are getting stuck with these expensive watches that turn to garbage after just 15 months. My watch was at 75% battery the morning it died. I just looked down to check the time and it was dead. Charged it, nothing. Tried to reboot, nothing.

The worst part about it is that my son got it for me, and he is no longer alive. Again, I'm heartbroken. I feel like, if my son had gotten me any other brand of watch, other than a Fitbit, it would still be working because I did nothing wrong to cause this watch to die. If this is not made right, I will never own a Fitbit again. I'm done.

So sorry to hear about your son.  As for your FitBit, their customer support has replaced mine three times by them including the most recent.  I bought mine around the same time so I would imagine that they'll take care of you if you get in touch with them via chat.  However, that doesn't guarantee that it won't fail again.  Good luck!
