Ionic will not unlock with phone

Watch is locked after move than 10 wrong password entries.  This is not a surprise because it tries to unlock in the shower and pretty much every time I bend my wrist.  Second time this has happened.  First time after multiple attempts I was able to get the watch to accept a new passcode.  This time gave up and tried to reinstall device as suggested in one of the threads on the user forum.  Now I have an application asking for the code on my watch but when I touch the watch it says Unlock with phone.  Catch 22!! I have already removed the pairing on bluetooth, and strangely enough it no longer shows up as an option to repair.  

Besides crush the watch and buy a different brand, any suggestions?  I love the community and the team challenges we do every week on fitbit but the hardware drive me MAD!
