I have tried for 3 days to update my ionic. I’ve tried using wi-fi, using Bluetooth, resetting my phone, resetting my Fitbit, removing my ionic from my Bluetooth devices, removing my ionic from my Fitbit app... help!!!!!!!!!! The “exercise” app on my ionic won’t open so I can’t record my weight workouts in real time... the update will “download” but seems to stall out during the installation process. Please help!!!!!

Sorry to hear you are having problems. I have an iPhone and can only recommend that procedure path; access your Fitbit App up on your phone, turn off your Wi-Fi (via Control Center) and with the Fitbit App running and "SYNCING" properly, go into your phone Settings and check your Bluetooth connections. Make sure your Ionic is displayed as "CONNECTED". Now that all is CONNECTED and your Wi-Fi is turned off, go back to your Fitbit App. Next RESET your Ionic (https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Ionic/Resetting-Your-Ionic/m-p/2609169#M42806). After you RESET your Ionic, enter your PIN (if you have that enabled), than return to the Clock Screen. Next return to your Fitbit App on your phone and start the new Firmware UPDATE. Keep your phone and Ionic in close proximity until complete. If you followed these steps and you are still having issues, I would suggest you contact Fitbit Support (via Telephone).
Hope this helped, Good Luck and Keep on STEPPING!

I started a firmware update with an Ionic and a One Plus 5T phone. I quickly got a red X on my Fitbit. After a long time, my Android phone said the download had failed and offered to use Bluetooth instead of wi-fi. I went that route. After an hour, the download was only half done. I was ready for bed, so I carefully kept the phone and Fitbit close, and gathered them up intending to plug the chargers back in near my bed. The download failed, I guess when I unplugged the charger (why?). When I got to work the next day, I started the update again. I had to. My Fitbit app wouldn't do anything else 😄 This time, my phone asked for the wi-fi password. OK. So why didn't it ask for one the night before? The download went some 100x faster. Then it installed. I kept having to press the back button or touch my phone to see what was going on (the phone is set to do that, but the Fitbit was on a charger. There's no reason for it to go dark when connected to a charger). The installation looked finished on the Fitbit, but the phone kept saying it was installing. I found this thread and it led me to putting my PIN into the Ionic. I touched the back button on the Ionic, got the main screen, and swiped up. I accidentally did it right. The numeric pad appeared. I put in my PIN, and bingo! The phone agreed that the update was done. The update did get done, but it took two attempts, searching for help, and a lucky guess on how to put in the PIN.
