Ionic won’t reset steps overnight

I had this issue with my old Blaze as well, but I thought it might be because I shut it off overnight so I wouldn’t run down the battery. With the ionic, I can’t shut it off, so there goes that theory. Now I know I must be the actual software that must be messed up. I take my watch off at night and it worked great and reset itself fine for the first month or so, but after that, it has failed to reset 4 times now. I start the morning with hundreds to thousands of steps. Are there any answers on how the heck this can be remedied?

  1. Do a Restart and do it several times if necessary.

Did the restart several times before and even last night before before bed. I woke up to find 1526 steps already before putting on the watch.

I have the exact same issue, this morning I woke up to 5996 steps and I do not wear my watch overnight. I would love to know what is going on.

Time to try a Factory Reset.  Swipe left to Settings, then About and then Factory Reset. The tracker will be returned to the way it was when you first started it and you will be given full instructions to set it up again.

Did a factory reset and now the problem is worse. I have woken up the past two days with 35000 and 38000 steps already recorded. Fitbit is sending me a new Ionic...hopefully this is better.

I have not yet done the factory reset, and now not sure I want to if this doesn't help.

I don't see what you have to lose.  If it doesn't work either, Customer Support will probably do the same as he did with Nardone above. And BTW, if you contact Customer Support first, they will require you try a Factory Reset anyway.
