Yesterday the battery ran flat for the first time and I set about charging it. When I plugged in the charger there was no response from the Fitbit, I have tried a few different USB plugs and the USB port on my laptop, still no response. I have tried pressing the back and bottom buttons together and all three buttons at once to restart but nothing has happened. I even bought a new charging cable which has made no difference. It has been charging for over 12 hours now and there is no sign of anything happening.
What next?

@jonjocamber sorry to hear you are experiencing problems. It sounds like your Ionic is not charging. You should just be able to press either the bottom right or left buttons to restart if it is in a shutdown state
It's worth taking a look at this article on charging troubleshooting see if it helps.
Did you buy this device brand new from an approved retailer or secondhand?
If you purchased it brand new from an approved retailer then you will will have no problems if you need to claim under warranty and it would be worth checking with Customer Support as @mrcz2u did.

Well don't feel like the Lone Ranger, I have exactly the same problem. Support did all they could to the point of looking up warranty. But they could not assist any further cause I but Ionic from unauthorized dealer. DARN!

Hey jonjocamber,
I also had the issue these days when I tried to restart my Ionic after a longer period. The battery was drained and it would not react. After reading that a lot of people gave up and considered it a lost cause, I decided to apply an "older trick" and gave it a small mechanical shock that woke the device up 🙂 it was actually charged, it just didn't want to wake up from its hybernation. Now it is all good. Give it a try but don't over do it 🙂
Take care

Thanks for the tip. Fitbit replaced it for me.
Kind regards

RDabucean - how did you mechanically shock it? Mine has also gone into a coma and I'm on the verge of removing its life support so will try anything to save it.
Cheers
