Ionic won't sync with Windows 10 PC

I have been using FitbitConnect on my laptop with Windows 10. Bluetooth was turned off. Wireless dongle plugged in. Version was FitbitConnect_Win_20151028_2.0.1.6742.exe. About a week ago, my Ionic could not be synced from my Windows 10 laptop anymore. There was an icon down in the tray in the lower right, if you selected the "sync" option, didn't work (it would show that symbol that it was in progress, but hours later, it wasn't done). If I tried to select Main Menu option, same result, just sat there 'spinning.' So I uninstalled Fitbit Connect. Went to Fitbit.com/setup, downloaded the W10 Fitbit software from the Microsoft Store, my Dashboard says it's connected, but it won't sync. (symbol just sits there, spinning). If I try to update the Firmware, there is an error. One suggestion, turn on the Bluetooth. Which I did. Still can't do the firmware update. And of course I still can't sync. Why did FitbitConnect stop working last week? It was working very well.

right now I see the Dashboard, and it says it's trying to sync. (Sync in progress. Please wait). 30 minutes later, it's still saying "Sync in progress, Please wait." Now what do I try? Tried to reinstall my old FitbitConnect. I let it work for hours yesterday, it never installed (the spinning symbol was going for hours until I killed it).

Hi @prost22, it's nice to see you again participating here in the Community Forums!

Thanks for bringing this to our attention and for trying some troubleshooting steps before posting over here. If you haven't already done so, I recommend you to check how the syncing procedure works here and see if there's a missing requirement on your Windows 10 computer that's preventing the syncing procedure to be completed.

Then, you can move forward and try the troubleshooting steps that are specified on: Why won't my Fitbit device sync? and let me know how it goes.

Let me know if further assistance is needed and if you have any additional questions.

Same thing happens on mac OS. FitbitConnect suddenly stopped working sometime after 29 Sep with no changes at my end. It has now been broken for at least a few days.

I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling FitbitConnect. Still does the same thing. It does the internet check then the small spinning symbol appears briefly and then it goes to the larger spinning symbol and stays on that forever. The main menu or the sync interface never appear. Its like they are failing to load from the server side.

This is happening to me too. I'm running the Fitbit Connect program on a Windows 8 machine, also using the little USB dongle. I too get the endlessly spinning wheel, and the program never connects to the Fitbit site and never syncs with my Flex. This has been happening for the last several days or week or so. It's very frustrating.

I don't know how to fix the Fitbit Connect. But here's what I did to get my Ionic up and running. I went to my Fitbit account, unpaired/disconnected the Ionic, then went through setup again from the beginning. On the laptop. All day Sunday, wasted! Turns out you can't Setup an Ionic with the laptop. The tech. support claims you have to use a smartphone. I called them first thing the morning on Monday, 6 am our time, they open at 4 am Pacific time. I got right through, the tech. support was very helpful and patient. We went through setup and getting the Firmware update started, she got off when the Firmware started updating. After 2 failed tries, I selected teh "Bluetooth" option for the Firmware update, went right through. Syncs now, but only through smartphone for now.

BOTTOM LINE: Setup can only be done with a smartphone.

I'm going to try to do a sync on the laptop, but for now, everything works very well with smartphone. For some reason, Fitbit Connect doesn't work anymore on my Windows 10 laptop, so I am giving up with that. I think it's possible you can go to the Microsoft Store, download and install the Fitbit app on your laptop, and you can sync with Bluetooth on your laptop. I haven't done it yet, try it without the dongle plugged in first.

FitbitConnect is now working again for me on Mac OS. Just magically started working again today with no changes from my end. Thanks Fitbit!
