Is it possible to combine sleep logs? I have two logs: 9:45-11:30 and 12:20-5:00 (example) recorded for the night. My sleep was interrupted with the usual trip to the bathroom ... just a few minutes. My watch failed to recognize I went right back to bed and fell asleep immediately.

@HenryBeun Welcome to the Fitbit Community! Thanks for sharing the experience you have had with your sleep logs while wearing Ionic to sleep.

 

Currently, it is not possible to combine two or more sleep logs into one. However, there is a workaround for this which is manually editing your sleep. This will allow you to log your sleep as one record only. Please check this helpful article for more details about how to do this. 

 

Also, I was making some research in the Feature Suggestions Board and was able to find this ideas which is asking for the ability to combine sleep logs:

Dear fitbit!

it has been 5 years since people are begging about the feature to combine sleep logs during one night or day. It is very irritating with several logs per night! WHEN will you fix this to have manual possibility to merge the logs? The links you provided are useless.

Here is how I solved the issue of multiple logs.

 

Step 1: make a note of the actual start and end time of your sleep

 

Step 2: delete the shorter log(s) (usually the log(s) that Fitbit has not analyzed) leaving only the one longer log.

 

Step 3: edit the start and end times of the remaining log to reflect your actual start end times (as noted in Step 1).

 

This should give you one combined analyzed log. If you exit and re-enter the app Fitbit will have updated your sleep score (Step 4).

I found the trick not to correct the sleep before you finished sleeping 🙂 If you correct it, then it will count the new period and finalise all your previous sleep.

Lets say i have sleept 2300-0400 and 0500-0730.

 

what do you suggest?

 

1. Delete the second log of 0500-0730 and add those 2,5 hours to the first log, so the first log becomes 2300-0630

 

Or

 

2. Delete second log and only change end date of first log to 07.30?

 

I have now done the first.  The scores change to worse since it assumes the last 2.5 hours i was mostly awake. Don't know how the algorythm works but it worsens the score instead of improving it.

Hello @Datoonsta and welcome to the Help forums.  When you did option one, you didn't add 2.5 hours of sleep.  You added 2.5 hours of time, but only 1.5 hours of sleep.  I'm not surprised you got a worse sleep score.  I would have done either option two or just left it as two sleep periods.  Option two is likely to give you a worse sleep score, due to the big chunk of awake time.  The last time I had something like this happen -- I fell asleep on the couch for about an hour, then woke up and went to bed about an hour later, I left it as two sleep periods.  The next morning, my sleep tile accounted for the total time asleep.  I had one nap and a sleep log with sleep stages.

 

Fitbit's sleep score is a proprietary method for analyzing sleep.  Premium users, who get more sleep details, get more insight.  But it is proprietary and I don't know the secret handshake.  Fitbit looks at your total time asleep, the time you were "in bed" but not asleep, deep sleep and REM sleep for age, sleeping heart rate, and restlessness to calculate a sleep score.

Manually entering the information is NOT a workaround as there's no data about sleep depth and other information.

Where is for mine. My record showed that I slept from 10 PM until 2:15 AM and then from 2:45 AM until 7 AM. I deleted the second section and set my sleep time to 10 PM until 7 AM. My sleep score went from poor to excellent End stages throughout the night were shown on the app. I don’t know how accurate it is but it is all there.
