Is the Ionic really that bad?

I see all of the complaints and problems on here, and I'm sitting here thinking I'm one of the lucky ones. I've had my Ionic since it launched and I have had NO problems with it at all. The screen is bright and responsive; it charges even when completely dead; the stats are dead on accurate. Now, my wife has a Versa (1st version) and it sucks. I've been thinking about changing her over to an Ionic, but if I'm going to have nothing but problems with it, I'll consider another option.

I've had my ionic for almost exactly 2 years.  It was great -- up until about a month ago... when it started losing time.  Then, wouldn't sync.  Then, wouldn't connect to blue tooth.  I've always had it in a protective case and it's never been in the water.  I'm convinced that the ionic itself is fine.  I think the programming on the app has killed my ionic.  Now, it syncs when it wants to ... which is about 3 times a day.  Sometimes overnight... sometimes first thing in the morning... almost never during the afternoon.  So, the time is never accurate anymore.  And, I don't ever get text messages or phone calls with it anymore.  If you're looking for something for 2 years... an ionic might be fine.  I'm going to start looking at garmins.

I've been looking at Garmin, and the closest I've found is the vivoactive4. Which is nice, but the connect app doesn't have calorie tracking so I'd have to log it through a different app. That doesn't seem very helpful. I like being able to track everything in the fitbit app.

I haven't had much trouble with fitbit over the years, and I've had the Surge, Blaze, and now Ionic. I'd like to stick with them, but Google doesn't have a good track record of acquiring technology and keeping it around.

All the fitbits I have had lasted 3 or more years most still going strong.

I think most people do not charge it correctly See this thread for charging best practices. If you are not charging it correctly you could be damaging the battery

@supercad79 I started with a Charge then to the ChargeHR then Charge 3 then to the Ionic, had a blast with all my devices. I put my Ionic through two seasons of mud runs over 20 races and never had a problem GPS and all! Love the app too, so user friendly. But then within the last 3 weeks it just started losing charge and eventually just died. I think it was the last update that’s killing a lot of these devices. And all we get is the 20% discount on a new one. Fitbit does not take accountability for what’s going on and has no loyalty to its dedicated customers.(I understand business is business, but look at all these posts about bricked devices) And because of that, I am out. Sad to say goodbye to Fitbit. The Garmin Forerunner945 battery life is amazing.

Good Luck
