Issues with Workouts Returning To Clock Face

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I am having an issue with my workouts ending and returning my fitbit Ionic to the clockface mid workout. I have been in contact with support for almost two weeks trying to resolve the issue but it seems like they are just sending me around in circles. I have reset my Ionic, Factory Reset my Ionic, Removed and re-added Weights to my exercise list and the problem has persisted. Now they want me to delete and recreate my account or make an account with a new email address. This will either erase all my previous data or make a new account that won't sync with my old data. I find this to be unacceptable and it seems like Fitbit support is just giving me the runaround until they figure out what is causing these issues.  Has anyone else had similar issues dealing with support since the Ionic came out? They were always very helpful in my past experience but not so much since this issue has arisen.

Try disabling notifications before the workout. It's fixed it for some.

That is what I have been doing but the point of having a smart watch is so I can get my notifications while I am working out without having to have my phone on me. I mainly wish fitbit would say we know this is a problem and we are working on a solution instead of offering up fixes that don't work.

It *appears* that Ionic is only capable of running 1 app at time. Why do I say that? Because if you are in the middle of a workout, and want to use Fitbit Pay or Starbucks app to pay, then you need to quit the workout and then switch to Pay or Starbucks app. At least that what my friend told me, and a few people have posted.

Back to your issue - when the workout app quit, and returned to watchface, did you have any notifications to review?

I have a hunch your problem is related to notifications, and how those are handled by fitbitOS, and the 1 app a time limitation.

These limitations are surely known by Fitbit, and nobody is providing info (including no details in developer docs), leaving us to guess or observe the behavior and make our own conclusions.

I have similar issue. My ionic is stuck on “End this exercise”. Will not allow me to end or cancel. Frustrating

This just happened to me for the first time on my run today. I read about the crashing during runs on the DC Rainmaker Review and have been really hoping to avoid it. One of the main selling points of the Ionic is the onboard GPS for run tracking. It can crash any other time but app stability during a run is paramount.

To quote the review:

This is the first time it’s done this for me, but it’s also the first time in a long time (years?) I’ve had a GPS watch crash on me mid-workout (non-beta).

I really hope this is high on the priority list of issues to get resolved.

Happened to me today as well in the middle of an run.  I was on pace for setting some PR's in my Strava group and ended up with a .6 k run recorded.   This is frustrating and now cannot trust the Iconic.

About 1.5 k into the run the Fitbit logo appeared on the screen and it appeared to re-boot.

I just wanted to point out that I too have issues with the workout app closing down randomly when I get notifications. Hopefully this issue will be addressed soon.

Or just change the setting so that notifications are disabled for workouts.

That worked for me as a temporary solution but I would like to get my notifications while I work out. I think they need to do a software update.
