5098 on screen and wouldn't go away.

It sounds like you are doing initial set-up adding device, and that is the 4 digit number the phone app is asking for to link them.  Could that be the case?

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

yes I think that was it. It just took 2 hours to show up.  I tried it again on my laptop instead of the phone and finally got set up there and it went through the internet to my phone.  so I guess I finally got set up.  thanks  Pat
