Yesterday my Fitbit started to just randomly vibrate and then the left button didn’t function. It springs and clicks when pushed but nothing happens. I called customer support and they said to restart and then reset to factory. It didn’t help. I am very frustrated because this watch is only 8 months old. It is out of warranty as this is a replacement I got when the first watch bricked around a year. I can’t believe a $300 watch lasts somewhere between 8 months and a year. I am trying to figure out how to fix it. I like the functionality of the watch but I am struggling due to technical issues. I’m really scared of this because my wife and daughter each have the same watch and I feel we have a ticking time bomb. I have searched the forums and see that the watch’s typical don’t have a fix except replacement. If anything I would really like to have a chance to have my voice heard about this.

This is what happened to me and none of the buttons were functioning...
I let my FitBit die and then I left it for some hours before charging it up. I let it die multiple times since I couldn’t restart it with the buttons and since it reboots after you charge it when it is at 0%. Surprisingly, the buttons started working soon after that. That helped my fix all three buttons, but fixing one button might be different.
If this doesn’t work, I would try to contact customer service.
Hope this helps!

I’ll give it a try but I’m not sure. I contacted customer service and they had me do a hard reset and then said they would give me 25% off another. It isn’t worth spending this kind of money again because the device only last about a year.

Now all of my buttons have stopped working. Seems like a definite flaw in the main control board. I’d really like to understand what is going on. I have had two Ionics with bad control boards.

Oh, that’s unfortunate. As of now, my Ionic is no longer working and it doesn’t work AT ALL. I’m probably going to switch to Apple or something because my device is out of warranty and at least I know that I am getting value for the price. $300 down the drain. What a SHAME. Until this company fixes THE NUMEROUS AMOUNT OF BUGS in the Ionic and ACKNOWLEDGES THE LARGE AMOUNT OF PEOPLE with Ionics that are dead/buggy, I’m not letting them waste my money.

It’s a shame too because I like the functionality and I like the look. I have three people in my family with these and planned on getting more of them for my other kids. I hate to give in to the Apple pressure but I can’t afford this. I just wish there was a fix and that Fitbit would help me out.

I’ll continue to document the death of my Fitbit. It seems like all others posts with this problem requires a new device as this is a failure of the main control board.

Oh ok, keep me posted.
Also, since my FitBit is basically dead, Customer Service sent me a shipping address where I can send my FitBit back to get another one. I’m not too keen on that idea because if it starts working again, I don’t want them to have my information.

How old is your Fitbit?

Well, I told the support guy that I purchased it on March of 2018, so it is old. Still don’t know why he said that it could be replaced.
