My new Fitbit ionic is logging thousands of steps at night while in my drawer is this a regular occurrence?

Also is the green light meant to flash when not wearing?

I’m a bit confused

Thanks guys

Some users have reported this issue. There has been no officially acknowledged reason so far. I think that the watch is experiencing a electromagnetic interference from something where it is placed.

If you are charging, try changing the outlet in your home.

If it happens everywhere in your home irrespective of location within the home, does the issue happen at work or may be at a friend's house?

I will place it in a different spot tonight, it logged 47,000 steps seems a bit ridiculous.

Did you have any idea about the green light flashing also? I was under the impression it only flashed if it was attached to you wrist.

Thank you so much for replying to my post.

Cheers

In regards to the steps, are you placing the device near a place where there is a lot of vibration (ex: near a vent)? That would explain why you're getting so many steps...the vibration is being tracked as steps! Although I don't know if this will help or not, have you tried a reset of your Ionic? Just hold down the bottom right and left buttons until you see the Fitbit logo appear....usually this takes about 10 seconds. Your data won't be lost and resets can help solve many issues.

As for the light, this is the heart rate monitor for the device. You can turn it on and off in your Settings.

For me I'm on my second Ionic and maybe that could be it. I also pulled my Blaze off my account and my only tracker is the Ionic so maybe that could be it but that hasn't happened to me in a week with the new Ionic. It happened the first day with the old one.

I just had the same problem. Had my Ionic now for two weeks.  I take it off to sleep and it recorded 53K steps!  I've tried the reset twice and no luck yet.  I'm irritated that it now shows I have badges that I really don't.  My Charge 2 never did this after over a year.

Have had my Versa for one week.  Yesterday, I left it on my nightstand and it tracked over 10,000 steps in two hours.  No fans or vibration in the room.  Never had this problem with Charge 2 or Alta.  Also trouble syncing with iPhone and mac - have had to reset daily, then reset doesn't work.

My Ionic did the same thing on three occasions. I take it off at night,
put it on the counter and one morning I had 40K steps, once 1,800K, and
once 30K steps. I contacted Fitbit on the phone, and they are replacing my
Ionic. I worry the next one might do it too. My Charge II never did this.

It turned out mine was doing it because of my bedroom fan.
So it was easily resolved,
hopefully your second one doesn’t have any issues.

Thanks for the info. We do have a ceiling fan on in the room where I
placed it. It's on most nights. Maybe it's a hit and miss kind of thing.
