Music Streaming and first impressions

Hi,

I just bought the Ionic thus week, and I thought it could stream music. I don't use Pandora, but I gave it a try and it only downloads their stations that I don't want to hear. How do I get it to stream Pandora over wifi so I can listen to playlists I created and change stations?

Streaming music was a huge selling point for me, and now I'm dissapointed that it doesn't work.

Hey there, I had trouble figuring this out earlier. Unless I am wrong the only way to play playlist that you want to hear to is by using the "auto-sync my top pandora stations". which allowed my fitbit to download the stations I wanted to hear. Unfortunately other than that, I either have no idea how to put other playlists or that you just can't do it.

things you must do to make this work.

- Have their paid subscription to be able to make it work.

- Must have solid wifi connected to your ionic.

- Have you ionic charge, since it drains battery like hell.

Frankly, pandora sucks. their licensing sucks. Even their premium sub ($9.99) don't have all the songs I want to even create my own playlist.  I used to have spotify but had to switch since it is not supported on the ionic.

Soguilk, I was able to get it to download stations, but that's all. I can't get it to download my personal pandora playlist or stream over wifi. The download option is nice if I don't have wifi. But I have wifi at the gym where I'd mostly use the feature, so I'd rather stream than listen to the random stations downloaded from Pandora.

I can't imagine that it doesn't stream. Why would it have a streaming service if it can't stream? I'm hoping I don't have to call customer support about it.

Why not download your own playlists?

That's part of the problem it won't download playlist I made in Pandora, or stream them. Id like to listen to music and podcasts streaming from services I pay for already. I can deal with pandora. But if I can only download music, I'd still have to bring my phone to workout which defeats the purpose of having this watch.

I’ll prefix this with the comment “I don’t have Pandora” so may be getting this wrong, but from reading the manual I get the impression the Ionic doesn’t live stream Pandora. It looks like you need to download the stations first. And to do that you need to be in WiFi and connected to a power source. Once downloaded the Ionic plays back music without needing to be in WiFi.

I’ve copied the salient points below.

4. Follow the on-screen instructions to log into your Pandora account. If you don’t have a paid Pandora subscription, upgrade your existing account or create a new account and then return to the Fitbit app to complete the setup.
5. In the Fitbit app, choose to auto-sync up to 3 of your most-played Pandora stations or manually select up to 3 Workout stations. If you have Thumbprint Radio on your Pandora account, it also downloads to your watch regardless of which option you choose.
6. Plug your watch into the charger. Stations download automatically when the watch is charging and in range of your Wi-Fi network, or tap Force Sync Now in the Fitbit app to add the stations to your watch.
After the stations download, connect Bluetooth headphones or another Bluetooth
audio device to Ionic and open the Pandora app ( ) on your watch to listen to music. Note that you don’t need to be connected to Wi-Fi or have your phone or computer nearby.

Note: Ionic automatically downloads new Pandora stations when the watch is plugged into the charger and in range of your Wi-Fi network.

Lostlogik,

I've already done the downloading process. I'm just not clear on if it streams over wifi. Seems pointless to have a streaming service that can't be streamed.

That’s the thing @Drea_Says. I think it’s just a (functionally poor, at present) music player.
