Music control on Fitbit Ionic

Im not trying to get music on to the ionic to play on bluetooth headphones which would cost me an arm and a leg.  Im just trying to use the ionic like a remote like my previous blaze was capable off.

It tells me to connect via Bluetooth classic and yet there doesn't seem to be an option to do that, Not in the phone app, Not on the ionic device itself.  Very disappointing,  Why is it telling me to connect with something that doesnt seem to exist.

Welcome on board @SunsetRunner, it's nice to see you here! Sorry to hear about the inconveniences you've been having with your Fitbit Ionic. Here are some steps:

  1. If you have an Android or Windows 10 phone, first turn on Bluetooth Classic to control music on your phone. If you have an iPhone, skip to step 2.
    1. Open the Settings app on your Fitbit device > Bluetooth > Pair
    2. On your phone, navigate to the Bluetooth settings where paired devices are listed. Your phone will scan for available devices.
    3. When you see Classic next to your Fitbit device, tap it.
  2. From any screen on your watch, press and hold the back button and swipe right to the Music Controls screen. You may see the current track playing or the most recently played track.
  3. To open additional controls, tap the 3 dots (...) in the bottom left corner.
  4. You may need to tap the phone icon to change the audio source to your phone. Then use your watch to control the playing on your phone.

To control personal music or playlists stored on your Fitbit device:

  1. Make sure you have Bluetooth headphones paired to your device. For instructions, see How do I connect Bluetooth audio devices to my Fitbit watch?.
  2. On your device, press and hold the back button and swipe right to the Music Controls screen.
  3. Play or pause the track or tap the arrow icons to skip to the next track or previous track. Press the + and - icons to control the volume.
  4. To open additional controls, tap the 3 dots (...) in the bottom left corner. Here, you can also change the Bluetooth device.
  5. Press the back button to return to the track listing or an app.

For troubleshooting steps, see Why can't I control music with my Fitbit device?

Give this a go and let me know the outcome!

@MarreFitbit Can we please have a technical insight why Android users need to use Fitbit Classic? What is it?

I don't know any other devices, apart Fitbit, that use this sort of system to control music.

Thanks

Have no problem connecting Blue Tooth ear buds, adding and deleting music to Ionic.  Beautiful sound but cannot listen because using the three dots, I do see the "+" and "-" but they are ineffective to control volume and it is much to loud permit my using my Iconic for music.
