Hey guys I just recently purchased a Fitbit iconic and for the last 3 days it's consistently counting hundreds and hundreds of extra steps at a time so as you can tell I'm reaching 10000 steps at the end of the day when I haven't really even been that active it's completely messing up all of my stats
So I'm wondering do I have a defective unit and should I send it back for a full refund or is there a way to fix this problem. Any help will be appreciated thank you

Is this happening at night. Or even just sitting in a certain place?
Is the Fitbit near a vibration source like a fan, dehumidifier, or even a computer CPU? It can see the vibration as steps and add false steps.
You can enter a driving record to get rid of them

Hello, thank you for the reply.
I've noticed when I wake up in the morning there's about 80 to 100 steps registered but I just presume that's me moving in my sleep, I'm not near a computer or vibration source
But what I'm noticing is very simple things like making my bed in the morning its registering 500 to 600 steps, just from making my bed. I've set it too dominant hand.
Is it normal for this watch to be so sensitive?
The other day I went for a 1 hour walk and at the end it said I had burnt 600 calories but I'm pretty sure in order to burn 600 calories I would've had to have walked for about 3 hours
The Numbers I'm getting are so exaggerated and inflated it's not even close to being correct.
My Android wear watch is telling me I walked 3000 steps today (which I think is correct because I've had a lazy day) but my Fitbit iconic is telling me I have walked 12000 steps
