This is so heart breaking, I was really enjoying the performance of my Fitbit Ionic until it stopped working and it all started with an update from the Fitbit app:
My watch was performing with no problems, however when my phone (Samsung Note 😎 requested to update from the Fitbit app. A few hours after that update, my watch was showing that the battery was dead, and it needed to be charged. After charging for almost the entire day my battery indicated that it was still at 0%. After that I contacted the Fitbit support line and they gave me instructions on how to do a battery check, which did not make any difference.
The next day I called the support again and the representative told me that my warranty was expired but they can give me a 25 to 40% discount on my purchase of the next watch!
I requested to speak to someone else which they then transferred me to the supervisor (Kim Mohn, maybe I miss spelled it-9/11-2019 @ 9:58 am (877-623-4997) and she told me that there was nothing else to do because my warranty was expired, but the discount offer.
I believe I paid $200 for the watch and I took very good care of this device. To me, this sounds like the Fitbit developers are trying to break the devices (which they got me) or maliciously slow down the performance of the devices so they can profit from quick sales instead of from quality devices.

The same thing happened to mine. I got mine in June of last year, it was working great. Woke up today and my whole screen is black. I was 3 months out of my warranty. I don't pay $250 for a watch to work just over a year. Seems to me they just want you to keep buying a new one each year. At that rate, I'll switch to Garmin.

Yes, I have been a longtime facebook user and i have the same issue. Fitbit Iconic was working just fine until a software update. I purchased Dec 16, 2018 and it hasn't even lasted a year & a half. So sad. After paying more than $250 for this watch, guess I will be switching to Samsung. I will not pay another $250+ for a watch that doesn't last more than a year and five months. I gave my son the original Apple watch 1st generation and guess what? It still works better than ever. What's your excuse fitbit?
Disappointed Fitbit User!

This happened to me 2 times. After an upgrade my Versa died outside of warranty. Then a week ago I upgraded my Ionic and within 2 days it died. At least this was under warranty and Im getting a replacement. I will never do an upgrade again with these products.. I used to have Polar heart rate monitors that lasted YEARS....... These products last a year or so!!!
