The screen locked up on me during a run. And I couldn't get it to sync. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app on my phone. I also tried to restart the watch, but the screen would immediately lock up. So I did a factory reset and it would simply return to the locked up screen. Finally it went completely black. I have checked that my charger working. Any ideas on how I get it to respond?

i see similar cases here from April 2019, and they have not done anything with them, besides providing discount.

My Ionic died yesterday. It is 3 months out of warranty, but searching both here and on google, this is obviously a widely known problem that Fitbit is aware of (something the customer service person flatly denied despite all the on-line evidence including here). I have been using Fitbit product for probably 17 years and was extremely disappointed in the response I just got from their customer service representative. After going through all of the steps I had already done multiple times to verify for the representative that my Ionic is indeed dead, the offer was 40% off on a DIFFERENT Fitbit product (Versa or something) or only 25% off on an Ionic. This highlights to me that my Ionic is defective and they know it and are trying to steer me away from it rather than doing the honorable thing a company standing behind their products would do and REPLACE IT IMMEDIATELY for a long loyal customer. If this is the best offer I will get, it's time to explore non-Fitbit products. I am not a happy camper right now. Took me a while to save up for this product. And it's just over a year old. My Charge2 went 4 years and I gave it away to someone who is still using it.
Bad form Fitbit. Bad form.

Yup, Ionic is a flawed product.
In this forum, 300 pages on Ionic alone and majority are "issues" related.
Ionic = Flagship Product >>> How iRonic (pun intended)
