My ionic won't display unless I hit a button

I need to be able to have my ionic to light up by just turning my wrist so I can time checking pulses. Mine won't light up unless I hit a button

Do a long press of the left button and set the "Screen Wake" setting to Auto.

You have your watch set on manual which is why it will not light up. All you need to do is press the button on the left side of the watch for a few seconds and the option will come up to change it from auto to manual.
